The season
Season 9 ran on Minecraft 1.8.3, on UHC difficulty, hosted by GopherCraft and run by Basket, who also built the command blocks that run the map. Five teams fought in a hostile world where lava had been turned into obsidian and water into lava. The world border shrinks with every death: after each one, players get a two-minute warning, and then the border closes in by a set amount over five minutes.
Basket's team was The Librarians, the purple team. Seven episodes went up between May 10 and May 22, 2015, along with an introduction (Episode 0) and a short spectator highlights video afterward.
Teams
- Green, The Green Machine: FriarNurgle, Gopherboy, Virii333
- Purple, The Librarians: BasketMC, TChels, xmods13
- Pink, Team Cave Control: Scoti_Garbidis, cupp2000, pulse2010
- Cyan, Cyan Myst: PyschoSFK, Th3pooka, optimus1971
- Orange, Team Sneaky: Sayulily, pikerize, xzosimusx
How it ended for Basket
The Librarians lost TChels and xmods13 in Episode 6, when both stepped through the team's Nether portal and came out over lava. Basket carried on alone as one of the last five. In Episode 7, after a fight in a village, the chat read "BasketMC was shot by Virii333." pikerize, Gopherboy and Virii333 were still in the match, and the episode does not show who won. The spectator highlights below pick up from there: Virii333 was shot by pikerize, Gopherboy hit the ground too hard, and the chat filled with "grats pike."

Other videos from this season
Episode 0: Introduction
On a glass platform in the sky, the Scorched Earth rules are explained: lava has become obsidian and water has become lava, so water bottles come from armored pigmen in the Nether. Level 2 potions and glowstone are not allowed, and under the Soul Crusher border each death sets off a two-minute warning and then a five-minute shrink. The teams draw wool and spread out, and the video ends on "GO!"
Spectator Highlights
Spectator footage of pikerize moving through a cave, then a fight on a snowy hillside where the chat reads "Virii333 was shot by pikerize" and then "Gopherboy hit the ground too hard." The chat fills with "GOOD GAME" and "grats pike."
