Episode 2 opens with the season's intro, the five team cards and a "Scorched Earth, GopherCraft UHC Nine" title, then a card that reads "Episode 2, Too Many Books." Basket picks up where Episode 1 left off: underground with The Librarians, inside the stronghold the team found in Episode 1.
Chests and cobwebs
The stronghold has chests, and Basket opens them first. One holds bread, and Basket mentions boots and diamond horse armor too, and takes the chest along with everything else. Then comes the library. Its cobwebs give string, which changes the shopping list. "So now we don't need to find cows," someone says, and sugar cane is off the list as well, since the shelves already hold books. "I have a bunch of string we can use for bows," Basket adds.
Since Basket runs this season's command blocks, there is a note on how episodes start: "At the beginning of each episode it should be day... assuming I did my redstone quickly."
Lapis, levels and a balcony
With lapis in hand, the team talks enchanting. "This means we could have a full bookshelf if we wanted to." The catch is experience: "We don't have that many levels." A melon seed turns up, which matters if the team ever reaches the Nether, because melons go into health potions. One of the libraries has a wooden balcony ("What's a library without a balcony?") and Basket later finds the silverfish spawner and blocks it off.
A creeper and a silverfish
Deeper in the stronghold, a creeper wanders into Basket's torchlight. "Here comes the creeper." A silverfish follows. Basket kills it but loses a little health. "I did take half a heart, sorry guys." Iron armor is turning up too: someone has an iron chestplate to hand out, and someone else reports, "I found boots and a helmet. I put them on already."
Back at base
Basket heads back to the base to smelt. Chat lights up about the books. Scoti_Garbidis writes "orange team, im so jealous of your bookshelves!", FriarNurgle answers "nerds", Sayulily writes "I love books :)" and Virii333 adds "i want books." Basket types back "scoti, you have no hair!" TChels, on the purple team with Basket, comes by the furnaces.
The Tab list shows all 15 players still in, but some are hurting: Gopherboy, optimus1971 and pikerize are each down to a few hearts. Basket checks who has armor and starts crafting iron: a chestplate first, then a full set for TChels and pants for xmods13. The plan for next time is to go up and disguise the entrance so nobody stumbles in.
No diamonds yet
The rest of the episode is digging. Basket tunnels through stone, collecting coal ("I almost got two stacks of coal") and iron, while chat posts cupp2000's achievements. Diamonds stay out of reach. "I'm having no luck finding diamonds." The border is not moving either, because nobody has died yet. Before the episode ends, the team talks about relocating to a new area.
The server posts "End of Day 2. Players remaining:" and lists all 15 players, Basket, TChels and xmods13 among them. The episode ends with Basket alive and still mining.
