Maps somebody sat down and built, with rules posted on a wall in the starting lobby and a designer who knows exactly where you will go wrong.
That is the appeal. A generated world is indifferent to you, but a custom map has intent behind every drop and every locked door, and getting caught by one is usually the best part of the episode.
