Basketopia City Planning: Team B.S. Server Episode 129

  • Published on

Episode 129 starts at noon in town. Basket has heard that another player gathered supplies together and sorted out the storage, and the chests are full. "Oh wow, they're so organized, look at that." Basket grabs supplies and more ender pearls and heads out to the wall. Basket is the only one seen on the server.

Pearling over from the tower

Basket runs to the back of the castle, climbs a very tall tower ("pretty dizzy up") and throws an ender pearl as far as it will go. "Probably falls short." Then: "That's not too bad."

One, two, three

Today's job is the inside line of the wall. Basket counts it out block by block, "one, two, three," steps in and out in threes, and counts the diagonals out to five. Where the line meets a tower ("coming up to a tower, surprise") it runs right in and comes out the other side.

The gatehouse causes trouble. "I didn't think about the other side of the wall when I designed the gatehouse." So it gets extended out. It sticks out two from the wall, the opening stays three wide, and the gate comes through the building. A road that was in the way gets moved over, a bit of hillside will be trimmed so the road can get through, and one tree has to go "because it is halfway into the wall." Before long the inside line runs all the way around.

Towers in the water

Past a small mountain, Basket points out where an opening will let water come all the way through. Where the wall meets a hill, it just gets built against the slope, with no second side for now. A big diagonal stretch runs straight into a huge tower. Looking out over the water, Basket lists what's still to come: "there's going to be a tower here and then some sort of tower in the water somewhere and a tower over there."

Building the second side

Then the inside wall goes up, mostly matched by eye to the outside rather than counted. A cave stays for now. A rock formation gets built into instead of cut out. At one spot there's a one-wide gap between the rock and the wall, and Basket thinks about a door there, then drops it, since you can just get on top of the wall anyway.

At the waterway, the plan is an arch on both sides with the channel dug out so it goes all the way through. Basket tunnels into the wall and out the other side. It doesn't line up yet. The inside has to shift over two blocks partway along and climb steeply. "So that'll be interesting."

Animals on the wrong side

"Chicken, stay outside the wall." Animals keep wandering in just as a stretch gets closed up. The chicken gets chucked back out. Later a llama keeps pushing at one spot. "You really want to get through here, huh? Okay. Go on then." So it goes in, and then has to be pushed further in, away from the wall.

The wall also changes the roads. One road was going to run right through a stretch that's now solid wall. Basket will probably have it snake around through the mountains instead, since the road was planned before there were city walls. Near the gatehouse one part of the wall "looks bizarre" from above, and Basket will tear it up once the gatehouse gets more work.

Out of blocks and time

Basket raises the inside wall two blocks at a time and fixes anything that ends up too low. "I think doing it this way is a lot faster." Near the end the blocks are almost gone. "We're almost out of blocks, but we're almost out of time, so I guess that works out." The outside of the wall goes all the way around, and a lot of the inside is now built too. The end card runs to the last frame with no gameplay after it.
