Zombie Cookout: Aftermath S1 Episode 24

  • Published on

The title card reads "S1E24," with an on-screen credit "with Precisi," and Precisi's nameplate is right there in the first shot. This is the last episode of the season, and it is mostly a show-and-tell: "this is the part three of this zombie cookout." The zombie grinder has a name now, and a sign on the wall to prove it.

How the cookout works

Each side has a switch, and "once you hit that, zombies start pouring out." They drop into a holding spot, and this time the drop is three blocks instead of two. "When it was two blocks it seemed like they could detect that the space was occupied, but when it's three blocks they just sort of seem to pile up." Close it off, hit the lava, and they burn. Basket follows up with a Splash Potion of Healing for any that are left.

The holding gate is there for a reason. In bigger tests "not all of them die," and the ones that live pick up the dropped gear, so "it turns into this endless cycle and you wear down your weapons." Now the survivors get finished with a regular sword.

Chickens and pressure plates

The drops run through hoppers and an item elevator to a sorting room, where rotten flesh is supposed to fall into an incinerator over lava. It isn't quite working. The filter hoppers hold "a bunch of other stuff," and the trash may have taken "a little more than it should have." Nobody is too worried: "we've got like 30 pairs of diamond boots."

The call has a bug report of its own. "A chicken jumped up here and hit that switch," which dumped the lava early "and killed all the zombies and all the loot that was sitting there." The fix on the table is to swap in "non-pressure plates." Basket also agrees to a sign so everyone can tell whether the gate is open or closed.

Fixing the filter

Basket kills more zombies to refill the filter with flesh, then finds the real problem: a hopper on the floor stops working when a block sits above it. A brick half-slab does the trick ("a brick half-slab doesn't hold onto a charge"), and now you can toss junk at the trash and "it'll pick it right up." By the end, "I believe this is fixed now."

A tour of Bliss

Then Basket hands over the tour ("go ahead and you can take a tour, or give the tour") of the description's "other changes in Bliss." The storage got moved down to match the sorting area, with "a fancy staircase" up to the main floor. Through the back is the start of a library, with two domes looking out at the water, "lots of books," floor lighting and desks for "nice cozy reading."

A present

"Oh we have a present for you!" Down in a cave sits a spawner ringed with torches, and a sign: "To Basket With Love P & C." On the call it's a "poisonous spider spawner," saved for Basket because "you don't have a spider spawner yet."

The green screen room

The last stop is a bright, blank-walled room with glowstone and glass to stand on, a "green screen" for filming. The chicken launcher will have to wait for another day, and so will news from "the other base" ("it's gotten burned down a couple times"), which has a new exterior. "It's different. Quite a bit." The season ends there, on the end card, with no clip after it.
