Quick Update, Hyperminer: Hypermine Modded Episode 5

  • Published on

Episode 5 of Hypermine Modded is a short catch-up. Basket is back on the server and, as the title says, now a Hyperminer. There is no new machine this time. Instead Basket tours the marble base, explains the turtle code being rewritten, and visits a library through a linking book. When it ends, none of the turtle code works yet.

More storage cells

There is more marble than last time, and more storage cells sit in place, not all rigged up. A ComputerCraft block labeled LavaBucket is set into the floor: the plan is a layer of lava under glass, kept by turtles that can remove it on command. Two buses run past: rows of color-coded ender chests where items drop in, for turtles to carry to the right spot. "So all this stuff is broken right now."

The job manager

A computer labeled JobManager sits in a small marble room. A terminal will ask for items, and the job manager will work out which storage cells have them and the best way to fetch them. The problem, Basket says, is trying to make it work really well the first time, so the new plan is slow and simple first, one job at a time. Basket is also rewriting BasketNet, "a modified version of the RedNet stuff," into BasketNet 2, where the receiver answers back so the sender knows the message arrived. "Right now none of my Turtle code actually functions."

A staircase that moves

A marble staircase climbs to a top platform. Basket wants a button to send a redstone signal to a computer, which tells turtles under each step to swap the blocks out and return. For now they are regular stairs.

The library

A Mystcraft lectern by the base holds a book. The screen goes black, and Basket stands in a tall library walled with bookshelves. A lectern under a sign reading BasketMC leads back. The commentary is hard to make out here.

Where it ends

Long fall boots let Basket drop down a shaft without damage. Down where the quarrying happened, monsters spawn right by the torches. Resources pile up unsorted for now, until an ender chest can feed them into the system. Next is a job queue that works, even slowly. The video ends with Basket on the base roof.
