Port Hypermine North Station: Hypermine Vanilla S2 Episode 105

  • Published on

This episode runs about 70 minutes and opens on a card reading "Episode 105" and "Port Hypermine North Station." Last time the redstone started at the bottom of the hole. This time Basket jumps to the other end. The creative-world blueprint is up in the picture-in-picture window again, and the plan is to build the top of the station first, then work down. "Like I already done the very bottom."

Starting from the top

Basket packs powered rail, four sticky pistons and a load of smooth stone, then climbs out of the hole. The entrance goes on one side, so a bit of the hill there gets shaved down and patched with dirt to blend in.

Then comes the counting. The wall comes out at 21 blocks, then 20, then 21 again, and it turns out the hole was dug further in one direction than it needed to be. Most of the design is built against the other wall, so Basket builds against that one, where only the ladder would have to change. "If only we could just copy and paste this into the world then we wouldn't have to worry about it."

The floor goes in with openings every other block, one for each cart in a train: "up to four passenger carts and the engine caboose." A two-wide hole is where the return line drops carts back down.

Four lines through one corner

Under the floor it gets tight. One narrow corner has to carry several lines at once, some of them stacked right on top of each other. Basket builds the bottom one first, before it gets covered: the engine line, then the caboose line, then the return line where empty passenger carts come back in. A piece of that one doesn't line up with the blueprint, and it takes a few minutes of recounting to find the block that was one too low. "Crisis averted."

The last line climbs up and "spits out onto the second floor of the main building." Then the powered rail runs out, the stone runs out, and levers go in to power what's there.

Basket also marks out a platform five blocks below the floor, lit with torches for now. That's where the pistons and the rest of the launching machinery will go.

A trip for smooth stone

Repeaters need smooth stone, and Basket turned all of it into bricks. So it's the train to Basket Station. While there, Basket spots andesite where smooth andesite should be and swaps it, and puts back a quartz stair in the mall that went missing "forever ago." Smooth stone and some activator rail go in the bag, and the train back to Port Hypermine South Station works the way it should. "I like it when this thing works properly."

From the south station Basket takes the road instead of a train, past an old bridge and a railroad crossing. "Eventually we'll be able to use a train to get here."

Torches, levers and a mistake

Back at the north end, an activator rail goes in, and the smooth stone turns five repeaters into 30. On the platform, Basket starts the "launching mechanism," a long snake of redstone with a block of redstone, repeaters on full delay and a lone sticky piston.

The last piece is a row of six redstone torches alternating with regular torches, with levers all the way across. They power the rails on the surface. Basket flips the levers, checks, and finds the opposite set should be on. That means something else is in the wrong spot, either this row or the redstone below it. "Luckily I noticed that now." It waits for next time.
