The decrypted notes still need a translator, and the quest says to look for a reclusive one in the southern swamp who "may have some odd requests." Scoti is along again, plus other players coming and going. A title card warns that the audio doesn't always match up, because of a problem while recording.
A bit of gloop
They already know where the swamp hermit lives. "Wait, we found that hermit! Last time we played!" Hermy the Hermit can smell the book and will translate it for a price: go squish the gloop-de-gloops west of here and bring back a bit of gloop.
Someone has left spare gloop in a chest nearby, and Basket takes one. They head west anyway, past slimes and a chest with arrows in it.
The pit
The poison out west is bad. "I'm poisoned very badly." Basket drops into a hole with green hearts and gets the death screen: "BasketMC fell from a high place."
Scoti dies too. Chat reads "Scoti_Garbidis was slain by Zombie." The way it's told afterward, a chest went down into the pit to stash things, a creeper jumped in, and the pit was full of zombies. They regroup in the hermit's hut and sort out whose stuff is whose. The lucky Topaz Cap goes back to Basket.
A riddle about poppies
The translated notes turn out to be a riddle: "In the shadow of air 'tween tepui and tooth, a blood-flowered pond conceals the truth. Present the staff with the source of all things and then you may enter the realm of true kings." Nobody knows what a tepui is. A blood-flowered pond, though, probably means a pond ringed with poppies.
So they go looking. There's a tall building full of witches that fight each other, a waterfall, and no poppies. A path leads somewhere "nobody's been," and it's packed with spawners: creepers, skeletons shooting arrows nobody can identify (weakness, maybe), a spider pit. A creeper takes out a chest before anyone opens it. "There's nothing inside of it." Near the end it goes badly again ("my stuff is so gone"), and the video cuts back to town.
The quest that wouldn't finish
Back in town there's a snag. The quest is "bugged, sort of." Earlier, the hermit and the mage in the library had both refused to talk to one of them. Another player hands over all three books, and that does it. Vargos at the desk: "So he goes by Hermy now, interesting." Then "MAGE'S LEGACY COMPLETE!" with a Morphic Shield and 2 Imperial Coins. "Now I have an awesome shield. I don't need this shield anymore."
Whose skull is that?
Vargos tells the story. Twelve years ago Vargos joined the High Council of Mages, shortly before a brother, Valgus, became Archmage. They found an ancient spell "to unleash the might of the Wool." A council member named Calder wanted to share it, the argument got heated, and Calder struck first, killing four of the Council, Valgus among them. The skull on the desk is the brother's. "This seems like a wool related thing. That's exciting."
