Soul Sand Swamp: Ragecraft 2 Episode 3

  • Published on

Basket and Scoti pick up where they left off in Ragecraft 2: Insomnia. "This level did not get any easier while you were gone." The deaths sidebar is on screen from the first second this time, reading BasketMC 3 and Scoti_Garbidis 2.

Into the swamp

The plan is to pick up the torches behind them and head for "the little swampy area." The ground there is soul sand around pools of water, and it slows them right down. "I'm on the slow sand." There are spawners all over, and most of them put out creepers. They light one up with a torch and break it. "We don't need any creepers yet."

The creepers crawl slowly through the water, and one of them hopes these ones have "a lower blast radius" since it's "the easy area." The swamp gets a review too: "This is the white wool. It's the brown wool if you ask me." About four minutes in, chat reads "Scoti_Garbidis was blown up by Creeper," and Scoti's count goes to 3.

Back for the gear

Back on the swamp, a zombie is waiting "right from the start," and there's a question of whether it grabbed Scoti's dropped gear. "Maybe, but I killed him." One of them is down to two and a half hearts with no food and eats whatever the other throws over. A chest gives up torches and leather, and they split the torches. One of them crafts leather pants and boots, then remembers they had already looted pants.

Vampires on the hill

Up the hill past more coal, there's another spawner, and this one sends out mobs with a "Vampire" name tag. "Oh, they're much faster." Someone suggests moving water, because "I've seen too many vampire movies for that to not be true." It doesn't work.

The Vampires take a lot of hits. "Are they healing, maybe?" They are, and it was in the hunter's notes from the first episode: "that was part of the story I read, you weren't paying attention!" From then on they try to hit the same Vampire at the same time, and it works. A splash potion hits one of them, a skeleton shoots from somewhere, and they keep charging up the hill breaking spawners as they go.

Holy Water

There are buildings past the swamp, and they work their way into a stone one. Basket takes a wooden pickaxe to a spawner set into the floor. A chest there has Holy Water, which turns out to be "an attack weapon," not a potion. The tooltip lists Smite II, Knockback I and Fire Aspect I. "So it's something with no durability we can use if we need to."

Two at once

They pick the building on the edge next, hoping for more supplies. Creepers come at them from every side. "If they start blowing, hold down on your block." Then the Gravediggers show up in a cramped stone room. One of them is down to one torch. Chat reads "Scoti_Garbidis was slain by Gravedigger," and a few seconds later "BasketMC was blown up by Creeper."

"That's the end of an episode, man." They'll "meet you back where we just died."

The sidebar ends at BasketMC 4 and Scoti_Garbidis 4. That's three deaths this episode: Scoti twice and Basket once. The monument isn't shown.
