Gemlight Bog: Untold Stories 4 Episode 19

  • Published on

The episode starts with a win at the monument and ends in the middle of a fight. In between is Gemlight Bog, a dark swamp with spawners tucked into the walls, gold ore everywhere, and a golden mob that is very hard to kill.

Emerald 14, take two

They have an emerald to place. The tooltip on the title card reads Emerald 14, Rotten Gorge, Lime Wool. The lime wool goes in, the green glass goes in the window, and then the problem comes out: one of them wasn't recording. "Take it back out." So they do it all again.

That leads to a story from Scoti. A recording of the March MHC turned out to be nothing but the end-of-stream card that says "Gaming with Scoti Garbidis," plus audio. The other suggests drawing out what happened. The footage still exists. "Don't hold your breath, anybody."

Into the bog

They think the bottom of Laminar Labs is done, since they have its emerald. Next stop is Gemlight Bog, the green wool area. It gets a song about a band they half remember from high school, and a review: "It is so stinky. It is so scary."

The way in is a drop with water at the bottom and some ladders missing. Down there it's dark. There's coal, a creeper, a baby zombie and an Enderman nobody should look at. The stinky haze turns out to be poison spiders. Orchids grow everywhere, and throwing them away is grounds for ending a friendship.

Hidden spawners

At first they don't see any spawners and figure the mobs are natural. Then the mobs keep coming. Creepers come out of dirt spots in the walls, there's a skeleton spawner set a little down, out of sight, and another one sits in the obsidian. Spider spawners hide inside the clusters of webs, and they take those out one by one. "I am the best at Minecraft."

Up in a tree there's a record, all lit up. They also spot something green and go for it, hoping for the emerald. "That's actually not emerald." It's a chest of lapis.

The Gold Golem

The walls are full of gold ore. One of them doesn't have an iron pickaxe and gets told to take 18 gold anyway, nine each, "in case you die." Likely story.

Then a prediction: there are gold blocks here, so gold versions of the mobs are coming. Right on cue, here comes a golden one. "He's really fast and he hits hard." It's the Gold Golem, and the death screen says it all: "BasketMC was slain by Gold_Golem."

While Basket finds the way back, someone sings: "Super pro Scoti Garbidis, nothing ever kills him while he's getting his friend's stuff." There's a dad joke about a tomato, too.

House rules

By the time Basket gets back, there's a small house with the gear sorted into chests. "I'm making us a house." "But now that you're here, you're making this house a home." The cursed leather tunic is in there, the one with Binding, and somebody almost put it on. There's a fight over potatoes until the missing stack turns up in a web. And somebody brings up the earlier "I'm not gonna die."

Golden girls

The golems keep coming, and they still haven't put down a bed. Zombies drop boots, chests get broken, and one golem hides in a tree. Then the chat reads "Scoti_Garbidis was slain by Gold_Golem," and the question is how to get back in. Intersection two.

Another golden one shows up, a weapon is about to break, and they end the episode mid-combat. "That's one of the golden girls."
