Part 2 opens on a minecart ride down the quartz-lined tunnel, under the INVERSION logo and a title card reading "Episode 16, Subterranean Railway, Part 2." Then it cuts straight back to the Nether, where Part 1 left off. Basket is out on the netherrack with an enchanted diamond pickaxe named "Lightning the 1st," and the job is the same as before: quartz and glowstone, as much as the two can carry.
Opening the lava lake
Basket and Scoti_Garbidis work different ledges and keep losing track of each other. "Where ya at, homeslice?" a voice asks early on, and a little later someone admits, "I'm like way far away from where I meant to be."
A lava lake sits overhead. "There's a lava lake up here, you want me to open up the bottom?" a voice asks, and the answer is yes. The lava pours down and spreads across the floor in a wide orange sheet while the mining goes on around it.
Too much loot
The real enemy is inventory space. "I didn't have space to make the blocks to use the nether quartz to make the blocks to make the room to get more nether quartz," a voice says. Basket sets an ender chest down on the netherrack and moves stacks of quartz blocks into it, then mines it back up.
Later the game starts to stutter. "I'm in freeze town," a voice says. "I think it's because my inventory is super full again." Picking up the loose quartz off the ground fixes it.
The tally comes in over voice: "a little more than four and a half stacks of nether quartz block" for one, and "a little less than two stacks of glowstone" for the other. "It's been very quiet in terms of gas," a voice notes.
Hellos in chat
PsychoSFK joins the game and types "Hello." Basket starts typing "Welcome back!", then sends "Heyas!" instead, and Scoti_Garbidis types "hey Psycho!" PsychoSFK follows with "Hello YouTube! lol Not staying long Scoti:-)". Later another player joins, and Basket types "Heyas!" again.
Lining the tunnel
The episode then cuts to the railway, where Scoti_Garbidis waits by a quartz arch. The design calls for a quartz ring "every other five and then smooth stone," with lamps in the ceiling. One stretch came out at six, a voice admits, after some tunnels were dug from the other direction.
A voice suggests slabs for the top of each ring to save quartz. Basket crafts quartz blocks into quartz slabs and sets them in. "Okay, no, they look the same," comes the verdict, so the slabs stay and the quartz goes further.
The floor in one spot opens onto an old mineshaft with a chest minecart in the cobwebs. "Ooh, redstone," a voice says. Basket places powered rails, and the leftover supplies from the trip go into a chest in a junction room.
Riding it home
The last shots have no HUD. Two players walk toward the camera down the finished tunnel. "As you can see the tunnel is all done back behind us," a voice says, "and it's time to jump into a minecart." The cart rides the long run of quartz rings and lamps.
The quartz is running low. "We're low on quartz though," a voice says, and there are more tunnels still to dig, among them "this tunnel to the cow patch." The cart comes out of the tunnel into the open at night among trees, and the end card plays over that view to the last frame.
