The Hatch: Captive Minecraft 4 Episode 7

  • Published on

We pick up right where we left off, still stuck inside the growing world border and still fighting to clear out one nasty flooded cave. This is Captive Minecraft, so every achievement pushes the walls back a little further, and this episode ends with a plan that could get one of us stranded in the Nether.

Draining the flooded cave

The bottom of this cave is a mess. Zombies, spiders, and a couple of creepers are all crammed into a deep pocket with water running through it, so we lean on the oldest trick we have: pour a bucket and let the current do the work. Water washes the mobs around, keeps the creepers from getting close, and in a few spots it just drowns them where they stand.

Once the room is calm we light it up with torches and start hauling out everything worth keeping. There is a ton of clay down here, plus string, gunpowder, and even some horse armor tucked in a chest right on the edge of the border.

The Hatch

Digging through the lower level, we hit something that stops us cold. It is a walled-off room with a glass-framed center, and something inside is counting, rattling through random numbers like a timer. One of us picks up a Resistance buff just standing near it, and the pattern matches the monuments we have seen elsewhere on the map.

Our read: this is command block territory, probably tied to the endgame or wherever the final boss lives. So we do the smart thing and leave it alone. As Basket puts it, nothing good is going to come from cutting our way in there, so we torch the edges, back off, and keep the mystery for later.

Sugar cane just out of reach

Back near the surface, the loot run keeps going. There is a polar bear that scares Basket every single time he rounds the corner, llamas wandering the map, and a clump of sugar cane growing underwater on the wrong side of the border, close enough to see and nowhere near close enough to grab. We note it, file it away, and keep an eye on the achievement counter, since sugar cane is one we still need.

Delicious Fish

The next achievement is fishing, which turns into a whole thing. The only water patch handy is a weird one near the garden, where breaking ice left the water floating a block up in the air. It looks broken, but a fish still bites. Then comes the catch: you have to cook it too. Scoti reels in and cooks his first, earning Delicious Fish and bumping the world border out again, with Basket right behind him for the same one.

A new portal to end on

With the room secured, we set up the cliffhanger. There is no rule against building a second Nether portal, so that is the plan: one of us heads to the lava room for obsidian while the other gathers the iron and flint for a flint and steel. The warning going in is that if you misplace the obsidian, you have to restart, so this is a careful build. We get the frame standing and call it there, saving the trip through for next time.

That is Episode 7 of Release the B.S. More Captive Minecraft, more Team B.S., and one unlit portal waiting on the other side.
