The Darkness Attacks: Captive Minecraft 4 Episode 25

  • Published on

Episode 26 of Release the B.S. is a full cave-clearing shift. We go spelunking through the old dug-out tunnels and a few brand-new ones, clearing mobs, hunting coal, and trying very hard not to get blown up.

A Derpy Start and the Door-Room Mystery

The episode opens mid-derp, fresh theme song and all, with us wandering back toward a creeper we can hear but cannot find. We are convinced it is holed up in "the door room," which kicks off a whole back-and-forth about a lighting flaw: the torches in there keep getting removed, so the room stays dark and the creeper stays hidden.

Eventually we give up on it. As one of us puts it, let's just go play Minecraft someplace else.

Bossy Basket Lays Out the Plan

This is where the episode earns its name. Basket takes charge and spells out the shift for the folks at home: clear the levels as we go, and grab every scrap of coal we can. Fortune pick in hand, Basket puts Scoti on coal duty and tells him not to slack.

There is some bow talk mixed in too. We both had affinity bows at one point, but one of us lost his somewhere along the way. Go watch the last episode if you want the full story on that.

Down the Twisty-Turny Tunnels

Exploring turns up a maze of old staircases, water shoots, and lava tunnels, plus one genuinely weird find: a one-block-wide shaft dug straight down from the surface, with snow still falling in from the top. Neither of us can remember digging it. The whole descent starts to feel like the Goonies all over again.

The Mob Gauntlet Below the Healy Zone

Then it gets spicy. The deeper we go, the more the caves throw at us: cave spiders, skeletons packing mega punch bows, creepers, and a baby creeper that earns a real-life jump scare. At some point we realize we have dropped below the "healy zone," which explains why everything suddenly hits so much harder.

Spawners are everywhere, a couple of chests cough up more coal, and there is a running battle with the framerate the whole time. OBS was not having a good day.

Kill Rooms, Scoti Holes, and a Witch With a Grudge

The back half is all about survival. We find an old drop kill room, dig a few emergency Scoti holes to hunker down in, and tangle with a witch whose poison lingers way too long. Scoti finally takes her out and reports back that she straight up told him she does not like "that Basket guy," so those two can work out their differences some other time.

We lock ourselves in somewhere safe, and that is the episode.

More cave-clearing, more coal, and more Team B.S. next time. This is Captive Minecraft, part of the Release the B.S. series.
