Chipmunks and the Last Crystal: Captive Minecraft 4 Episode 32

  • Published on

This is the real finale of Release the B.S., and it is a long one. A full hour underground, chasing the last of the Darkness challenge crystals, with a storytime tangent in the middle that was good enough to get its own animation.

Geared up for a long shift

We open at the base with the toolbox in good shape. Regeneration and Haste are both ticking in the corner of the screen the whole time, which is what makes an hour of mining survivable: blocks come apart fast and we top ourselves back up without stopping to eat.

The armor has been through the enchanting table by now. The iron boots carry Unbreaking III and Fire Protection III, which tells you exactly what kind of episode we were expecting. There is a stack of potions in the inventory too, strength and healing, saved for whatever we ran into down there.

An hour in the caves

Most of this episode is the two of us underground with an enchanted diamond pickaxe, and it does not really let up. Lava caverns, branch tunnels, granite and andesite by the stack, and ore wherever we could find it.

One stretch runs alongside a wall of packed ice, blue and bright against all that gray stone, which is a nice break from an hour of the same tunnels. The rest is honest grind work: dig, torch it up, follow the vein, repeat.

Storytime, and the sneks

About eighteen minutes in the gameplay drops away and a hand-drawn cartoon takes over the screen. It is the Oaky Fanoaky Swamp story, mom's friend from Europe, a swamp sign, an alligator, and a corridor absolutely packed with snakes labelled “these are sneks.”

That animation went up separately as its own short on the channel, so if you have seen it floating around on its own, this is where the audio came from.

The deaths pile up

The chat log tells its own story in this one. Scoti fell from a high place. Scoti tried to swim in lava. Scoti fell from a high place, twice more. Scoti drowned. Basket got a “You died” screen of his own after a drop that went badly.

Nobody has a clean run in an hour of caving, and by this point in the series we had stopped pretending otherwise.

Back at base

The last stretch brings us home to the furnaces and the chest wall, sorting out what an hour of digging actually produced, with a trip through the stronghold room and its iron doors on the way.

That is where Captive Minecraft 4 ends. Thirty-two episodes from a one-block box to a base you could genuinely live in, and a border pushed out one achievement at a time. Thanks for coming along with us through the whole run.
