The server has no overviewer, the web map some servers run, and Basket is fine with that. "Minecraft has maps, so you don't need overviewers, right? Makes it more fun if you make it yourself." The job today is to chart the ocean and find a spot for an iron golem farm.
Paper, a map and a bed
It starts in the village, with JJBonsig on the server. Basket trades a stack of paper to a cartographer villager for emeralds, then crafts a map centered on a crafting bench in town and zooms it all the way out. "Wow, that's really zoomed out." Oddly, the map puts the starting point in its lower-right corner instead of the middle.
Night falls before the trip. Basket sleeps through it, the chat log reads "<JJBonsig> in bed", and Scoti_Garbidis drops in a line: "boss was watching ;)".
Out on the water
From there it's a boat and the shoreline. The map keeps filling in even while Basket paddles. A sandstone tower with a fence on top turns up near the coast, and Basket stops for a look: "This is custom, I assume. This doesn't look like a standard thing."
The farm plan is the simple kind, not an iron titan. Iron golems spawn in boxes on two levels and burn up, with four cells around a center and maybe eight "if I really get ambitious." It should go out in the ocean, where it can be ugly and no village doors are nearby.
The edge of the world
The trip runs up against the world border, which turns out to be the edge of the map. "The map is 2000 by 2000, just so we don't go explore too far." Basket wonders if a map shifts itself when it hits the border, and starts a second map on a beach, from a compass and paper out of the ender chest, to test it later.
Halfway through there's a happy discovery: holding the sprint key in a boat makes it go faster. "Well, I could have saved you all a lot of time, and me, if I would have thought of that earlier."
A spot for a castle
The other goal is the big one: "The next big thing I want to do on the server is build a gigantic castle." Basket wants rocky hills by the sea, with a cove underneath and maybe a secret boat dock, plus enough flat ground for a walled village other people can build in. One large island ticks a lot of boxes. "Part of me is tempted to claim that whole island, although that's a big space. That might be overkill." Basket asks whether anyone has already claimed it, as a possible "Basket City."
Iron Island
Another player had reported an ocean monument, and there was talk of stacking the farm on top of a guardian farm. But Basket never finds the monument: "I haven't seen an ocean temple actually, so this whole conversation might be for no point." Instead Basket settles on a small island in the middle of the ocean, which happens to sit on the way to the castle island. The idea is to build the farm underneath and turn the island itself into "Iron Island," replacing it "block for block with iron blocks," with a chest in the middle to collect the iron. Someone suggests marking a no-doors zone around it with buoys, and Basket likes it.
Before signing off, Basket builds a nether portal on the island so getting back is easy. The farm is next. There is no gameplay after the credits.
