Iron Farm Sanding & Clearing: Team B.S. Server Episode 48

  • Published on

Basket logs in and remembers the bad news first: "Oh, that's right, I died." All the good gear is gone. The rest of the episode is about getting back to work anyway, first sanding out more water at Iron Island and then clearing a corner of the farm down toward the bottom.

Starting over

Basket explains what happened after the last stream. Minecraft was still open and logged in, parked in the slime chunk area, and "a slime spawned in and then killed me." Basket came back to a lot of slime noises and an empty inventory.

A chest at the top has a sign on it: "BasketMC Slime recovery gear." Inside are replacement armor, a pick and a shovel, and there are diamonds to craft new pants. "Appreciate it, John. Thank you. I will not die this time." The shovel turns out to be "Efficiency, Mending." What's missing hurts, though. There are no Feather Falling boots and no Water Breathing helmet, so Basket drinks potions to work underwater and moves carefully near every edge. The beacons still give Speed, Resistance II, Regeneration and Haste II.

More sanding

The first half is the same job as the last few episodes. Basket checks how far the sanding got, then grabs more sand from the sand chest and some dirt for scaffolding. The pattern is the one from before: wall off a stretch with sand, break the source blocks, fill in, move along. A spot with water still running turns out to be one Basket missed. There are no torches along at first, so it's a trip back upstairs for torches and food before carrying on. By the half hour mark the Water Breathing potions are running low, so Basket switches jobs.

Clearing a corner

Basket mines a stair step down and starts digging out the dirt and stone inside the farm, keeping to the pattern of the outer ring so the edge stays clean. "Don't dig straight down, at least where you're standing." Spare blocks go into the sorting system so they end up in the right chests.

At one point there's an "Oh God," and then: "I survived that. I'm a little surprised." Basket's guess is that the Resistance effect softened the fall, but admits it might just not have been high enough.

Close to the monument blocks

Near the old ocean monument blocks, Basket goes slowly so as not to dig into them. A stray bit of path sits in the wrong spot, and with no smooth stone along Basket fills the gap with another block for now. Basket also thinks about digging out more so you could see all the way to the iron golem farms, but leaves that for later.

Down to the bottom

The last stretch goes straight down in the dark. Basket keeps an eye out for diamonds and lava: "So no diamonds in this little chunk here." Spare blocks get dropped into the hopper system to ride the item elevator up and get sorted. By the end the corner is cleared, with lights still to add later "similar to the other spots." Basket likes the way the floor lights up. The video ends on the credits with no gameplay after them.
