Iron Farm Digging: Team B.S. Server Episode 50

  • Published on

Episode 50 is a digging day at Iron Island. Basket comes back to find more of the area cleared out than expected, since another player has been helping with the digging. "I see a lot of progress has been done." The first job is a few ghost blocks, so Basket pillars up on sand to clear them.

Careful digging

The plan is to take this section all the way down to bedrock. That would be quicker without the walls in the way, but Basket wants to keep them. "Be a little bit easier if we didn't have to be so careful." Between an Efficiency pick and Haste from the beacon, a single extra click can take out a block that was meant to stay. The pick is also wearing down, and a viewer points out it's almost gone. Time to go repair it.

Repairs at the enderman farm

Basket rides out to an enderman farm that another player built and stands in front of a wall of endermen. The XP feeds the Mending tools: two picks and the shovel. There's a chest of ender pearls there too, and Basket keeps a few, since "they're kind of handy." The sword gets an enchant, Knockback, and a pick gets Efficiency III with Unbreaking. Basket wanted to do more, but there's no wood along, so that's it for now. A bed at the base saves the walk back: "Oh, good. Okay. Good. I slept here."

Looking for the slime chunk

One section of the farm is meant to hold a slime farm, but Basket isn't sure which chunk the slimes actually spawn in. To find out, Basket checks the chunk numbers and turns on the chunk borders with F3 and G, then boxes in a pen of cobblestone on top of the farm and lights it up so nothing else spawns. Then Basket heads off a good distance so slimes can show up. The later checks come up empty both times. "Of course you're not going to cooperate when I want you to."

All in survival

A viewer asks if all of this was built in survival. It was. The only extras on the server are a way to change the weather or skip to day or night by standing on beds, and anti-Enderman griefing so blocks don't get carried off. Basket also says other players dug out a good chunk of this hole. "It's how I roll. It's kind of like I go big or go home."

Down to the bedrock

The rest of the stream is the slow part. Near bedrock it gets fussy, because stray blocks hide in the gaps and every one has to come out. Basket keeps ender pearls on hand in case of a fall with no easy way back up. Lighting goes in once the dig is low enough, and Basket marks one spot with torches as a reminder to style its lights later. More glass is needed from upstairs to close a few gaps, and some blocks from the ocean monument too.

At the end Basket goes up top to look. With this part carved out, the iron golems show through, and Basket thinks about switching the glass here to white with a pattern. Making the rest visible would mean digging out a whole other section, so maybe not. The floor up top now has obsidian in it, too. The video ends on the credits with no gameplay after them.
