C2E2, the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo, is the newest event in this collection and the longest video: about 32 minutes of walking the 2024 show with a camera. Basket and a companion go through the expo floor, artist alley, the food court, a cosplay meetup and a stage show, with very little narration along the way.
Into the expo
After the BasketMC intro, the first shot is the entrance banner: "C2E2, Celebrating 15 years of fandom," with a stormtrooper walking past. Basket and a companion introduce the day to the camera. It is the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo, "an event for the cool nerds," though "even if you're not a nerd" you can come. As the opening chat puts it, "in some ways like nerd is just really liking something," whether that is comic books, movies, cosplay or video games. There are autographs to get and even origami to learn.
Then the walk begins. The hall is huge, with high black ceilings and rows of lights, and it is full of cosplay: people in orange jumpsuits, Spider-Man, Mandalorians and a whole Halo squad in green armor.
The show floor
Most of the video is the expo floor at walking pace. There is a big open area with green turf where people sit and rest, and a marked-off space where people fight with foam swords and shields. Booths sell comics, toys, plush and prints. Rows of life-size Star Wars droids stand behind a rope, R2-D2 and BB-8 among them, with Jedi cosplayers next to them. There is a red-carpet photo spot, a giant pink Barbie box to pose in, and a huge creature sculpture beside a poster for an Aliens display.
Artist alley and food
Artist alley is long rows of tables. There are prints and stickers, furry tails, jewelry, a "3 for $60" T-shirt stand and a table piled with 3D-printed dragons in every color. One stop is a controller holder for a Switch, which the commentary sums up as "an extra thumb and extra fingers."
Then the search for food: "where's the food section?" After a line, a chicken sandwich and an acai bowl with "chia and berries and banana and granola" are on the table. "Delicious."
Cosplay and the stage
In a large meeting room, cosplayers stand in a wide circle. On a countdown ("Three, two, one") the music starts, and people take turns dancing in the middle, with cheers each time. A window upstairs gives a surprise: "I wasn't expecting to see the Lake Michigan over there, but it's right there."
The cosplay section has workshops and a repair station: "If your cosplay is broke, you can fix it up." Groups of fans in matching costumes gather for meetups. On a stage with a red C2E2 backdrop, performers take turns in front of a packed room, and one sings into a microphone stand.
The video ends with a walk back through the bright convention center lobby, past cosplayers and big C2E2 banners, and then an end card.
