Deconstruction Artists: Aftermath S1 Episode 10

  • Published on

The title card reads "S1E10, Deconstruction Artists," followed by on-screen credits: "with Precisi" and "with cainadai." Basket is visiting a new base in a stone building in the city, and has "brought some goodies": melon seeds and the makings of an enchanting table. Two other players are on a voice call the whole episode, so this one is mostly talk while working.

A tour and a table

cainadai's nameplate is the first one on screen, leading the way around the base past a red bed and rows of torches. The bottom floor is "not safe," someone warns, so things get secured first.

Then the table goes down: "One enchanting table, ta-da!" Getting the bookshelves spaced right takes a few tries, and a voice on the call says the table "totally ate one of our bookshelves." Basket's diamond pickaxe goes on the table and comes back with Silk Touch I, per the tooltip. "Silk Touch. That's interesting." An iron sword in Basket's inventory shows Sharpness I, and low-level enchants go on the rest.

The missing chicken

By the time the enchanting is done it's night, and there are "so many zombies out," so the group waits it out inside. The chickens live in the basement on a patch of grass, and one is gone. "One of our chickens is missing." A sheep appears to fall through the floor too, which looks more like a glitch than an escape. The chat shows cainadai leaving and joining again around then.

The new pickaxe earns its keep fast. Basket breaks the bookshelves on the upper floors so they can move without losing them. Someone sums up the place: "This building would not pass any building inspections." Then the joke that names the episode: "I'm really good at destroying buildings."

The deconstruction project

The next stop is a different building, up a long ladder to the roof, where Precisi's nameplate shows up in the rain. "Welcome to our deconstruction project." Tools change hands, and so does a cookie, "for clearing the building." The roof is full of holes. "I wasn't kidding about this place not being zoned," a voice says. "It's condemned."

While the wood comes down, Basket describes the Ice Road, a line of ice along a Nether tunnel where "you can sprint, and then jump over and over, and you zoom across it."

Tagged

The talk turns to what happens if players hit each other. A voice offers a demonstration, and Basket's chat lights up red: "[AntiRelog] You have been tagged and are now in combat. Logging off will result in immediate death..."

Back at the rooftop chests, Basket starts sorting and puts up "Stone" and "Wood" signs. That earns a dig: "Your obsession with labeling things might be... a little unnecessary."

Loaded up

The plan is stone slabs for the basement walls, since they hold up against creeper blasts, "so if a raider wants to blow our building up they really got to work at it." Everyone loads up until their inventories are full. "I'm full." "Ditto." "All right, let's go." The video ends on the walk back, with a warning about a creeper in the water and "a lot of zombies down there too." The end card runs to the close, with no gameplay after it.
