Redstoney Melon Farm: Aftermath S1 Episode 9

The title card reads "S1E09," followed by "with Special Guests Quad14 & Senior_Lo." It picks up right where Episode 8 left off, with a call coming in. The chat shows "Incoming call from Quad14, pickup a smartphone to answer," then "Call established: Quad14, BasketMC." Quad14 types "hi," Basket answers "Hey buddy!", and the call hangs up after nine seconds.

The phone doesn't get it

Basket types "congrats" next, and the phone answers instead of Quad14: "Sorry, I don't understand 'congrats'. Say a player name to place a call." Regular chat still works, though. Quad14 writes "ty" and "seniors coming." Basket answers "I was beginning to worry," and Quad14 shrugs it off: "naw we always will get back."

Basket asks "why no bed?" Quad14: "never thought of it." A little later Quad14 posts "now i have a bed," and for a moment Quad14's nameplate shows through the dirt wall near the base. Senior_Lo is still having a rough night. The chat reports "Senior_Lo is swimming with the fishes!", then "Senior_Lo fell to the hunger of the horde!", then "A creeper blasted Senior_Lo!"

Seven long, fourteen pistons

With the furnaces running, Basket goes back to the plan from last time. "So I want to make an automated melon farm. So it's going to be one, two, three, four, five, six, seven. Seven long. So 14 pistons." Pistons get crafted, and Basket posts the plan in chat: "going to make a redstoney melon farm." Quad14 replies "ya im good at that."

The idea is simple enough. "If you have a piston above where the melon is and you power it, instead of pushing the melon, it just breaks the melon." Then the melon pieces spill out and can be collected.

Wiring it up

Basket digs out a layer above the farm and runs redstone along a new tunnel. A zombie wanders in and gets the iron sword. Quad14 checks in again: "i might meet senior have way to give him food," and later, "ill call u when i get to him." Basket answers "alrighty" and keeps working.

"If I power that block right here then they'll all fire," Basket says, and puts a lever there. The layout has to be "piston, stem, water, stem, piston." The water goes wrong once ("not still water, oops"), but Basket has a bucket to fix it. Then comes a hopper pointing into a chest, with cobblestone stairs so the chest can still open. "Not quite what I had in mind, but that'll work."

Plan B is a minecart

The test doesn't go the way Basket hoped. "Trying to see if that guy will glitch into where I want him to go. And I guess he won't." The other approach is a hopper minecart running underneath to pick everything up. That means rails and carts, so Basket heads down into a mineshaft to look. "It's very dark."

There's some iron down there, but "it's not quite enough. I think it will be a while until I have enough." Then: "And I'm lost." A moment later: "Oh, found it." That closes out the five-part run that started in Episode 5. The end card runs to the close, with no gameplay after it.
