Slow & Methodical: Aftermath S1 Episode 15

  • Published on

The title card reads "Minecraft Aftermath Let's Play S1E15 with BasketMC." Basket opens with a fake start, "let's go for another suicide run, just like the last episode," then stops: "a whole bunch of stuff has changed since the last episode." A big chunk of the building is gone. "They wanted to put in a park here," so it got cut down. Basket's voice is the only one this time, and the description warns that a good part of the video runs at 1.5x speed.

Basket Lounge

Down past the lava-scarred floors is a room Basket calls "Basket Lounge." It holds three spawners close together, two skeleton and one zombie, where another player had set up a spot to kill mobs through a gap. Basket turned that into a water elevator with signs that lifts the mobs and drops them, so "you just hit them a couple times" and the drops land in a chest. The walls are covered in mob heads: "I just figured I'd decorate the walls with zombies and skeleton heads." There's a small carrot farm too.

What changed at the base

The tour goes on. Basket's diamond boots show Projectile Protection IV, Feather Falling IV and Unbreaking III. A sign by the sugar cane reads "All hail Sooko the great sugar cane farmer." There are cows now, and the chicken coop feeds eggs through a hopper into chests that are already full.

A crowd of chickens packed onto a square of water inside a stone-brick pen with a ladder on one side

The egg dispenser is supposed to fire on a clock but only fires once per click. "Something's broken." A room full of heads on posts has a sign Basket reads as "Do not disturb, meeting in progress." By the door is a guest book.

An open guest book reading "Welcome to our home! Residents include: Cainadai, Precisi, BasketMC, Nightsocko" and "Please sign the book"

Going in slow

The plan is to clear a building alone, "slow paced, you know, sort of methodically." Basket carries a bow with Power V, Flame I and Punch II, crosses a bridge to the next roof at midday, and fills in the holes. Torches go into holes dug through the ceiling to light the rooms below. A water bucket on the stairs washes mobs down a floor, and every doorway gets blocked off.

It works. The top floor is cleared "using no lava buckets which is pretty cool," and one chest gives up saplings, wood and emeralds.

Creepers on the stairs

The next floor is harder. Creepers keep coming, the flame arrows set them alight, and one blast leaves "the ruins of my stairs" and blows the torches away. "I guess I can't say it was a perfect run." Later Basket runs straight into a hole in the floor. "I wasn't watching where I was going." A hit lands from out of nowhere, too: "What? I wasn't even by you."

The rooms pay a little: coal, leather, books and an extra clock. The aim all along is to keep the spawners, "I'm going to try and preserve spawners if I can," so they get lit up rather than broken.

Three floors down

Room by room it adds up. "So that's three floors that are clear." The next floor down has bookshelves ("Can I have a couple now?") and a zombie in diamond armor, and Basket keeps blocking doorways and opening rooms to see what pours out. The video stops partway through that floor on a "To Be Concluded..." card, with no gameplay after it.
