Kamikaze Basket: Aftermath S1 Episode 14

  • Published on

The title card reads "Minecraft Aftermath Let's Play S1E14 with BasketMC," with on-screen credits "with Precisi" and "with cainadai." It picks up inside the lava-filled hospital, right where the last episode stopped: "Whoa. It's a whole party over here." "I got a lava bucket for you guys." A Lava Bucket sits in Basket's inventory, and last episode's fires are still burning.

Operation lava flow

Water and cobblestone go down to cap the worst of it, which doesn't always help: "you created the cobblestone so then the lava like spread out further so it landed right on me." Nobody is sure the plan worked. "I don't know if operation lava flow was necessarily a success. It's hard to say." The real catch: "we can't even get our stuff back because it all burns up in the lava." The verdict is to keep the lava but be "a little more strategic about it."

Lava spread across a hospital room floor between cobblestone blocks, with a chest, a red bed and dark windows beyond

Burned and blew up

The chat logs "Precisi burned to death." more than once. One voice on the call sums up a death: "I burned and blew up and fell in a hole, so I kind of died from a bunch of things all at once." Then a stock check: "We got six diamond. That was nice." Those could become picks for mining, "but the problem is this map has been so strip mined, I don't know how much we'll find."

Not a hospital anymore

A skeleton keeps shooting from the outer wall. "Payback skeleton. Take that." Lava runs down the front of the building in a long orange column. "It's not a hospital anymore." "The Red Cross symbol or whatever it is, gone." A voice calls out "Oh, I got a brewing stand," and later "I'm putting the brewing stand in the secret chest for safekeeping."

A column of lava pouring down the outside wall of the ruined stone-brick hospital, with trees and a courtyard path below

"Well, we were worried about fireworks drawing people to us. I think we've really made a beacon now." "Oh, that tree's burning." "That tree went down fast." Then the rain starts.

Out of everything

Then the chat reads "A creeper blasted BasketMC!" "I probably lost the lava bucket, if that makes you feel any better." "All my stuff is down there." "I don't think that lava pillar is receding at all."

With nothing left to lose, Basket switches tactics. The YouTube description calls it trying "Precisi's kamikaze approach to make the creepers do the clearing instead of us directly." A voice on the call lays it out: "grab a stone pick, leap in and try and take out a spawner and do it over and over again. Or lure the creepers."

Over and over

So Basket drops through the holes in the roof, again and again. The chat keeps score: "A creeper blasted BasketMC!" "BasketMC was overwhelmed by zombies!" "BasketMC fell to the hunger of the horde!" "BasketMC was shot by a skeleton." Even "BasketMC slipped from an edge." "I'm actually working on blocking out the stairs now on the different levels. Every time I fall down I grab a couple more blocks." "Hey, it works! Effective! It's fun to do!"

Precisi gets caught in it too: "A creeper blasted Precisi!" and "Precisi fell into lava." A voice calls out "I found a charged creeper." Another blast catches someone standing still: "it bounced me up in the air while I was just standing."

Keep it or not

One floor below the roof there's a creeper spawner. "Do we want to keep it or..." The answer: "If I had, like, proper equipment I would try to capture more stuff, but right now I don't have anything, so I kind of feel like destroying is probably way to go." Nothing gets settled.

Then a different idea: "I think I might want to get geared up and then approach a building in a more strategic, systematic way." Basket gets a pick back ("Oh, that's my pick") and, before logging off, takes gear out of a large chest "just so when I log out somebody doesn't come in and steal everything." That closes out the hospital run. The end card follows, with no gameplay after it.
