Villagers!: Aftermath S1 Episode 18

  • Published on

The title card reads "S1E18," with on-screen credits for Precisi and cainadai, and both nameplates turn up in the base early on. Last time the plan was to cure zombie villagers "from across the street." This episode is that plan, done two different ways at once.

Two plans

It's still daytime, so Basket starts on a cobblestone bridge from the base toward the building across the street. The idea is to leave a gap: "with a bow, kill things I don't want to come over here," then let the right zombies across, trap them and cure them. A voice on the call hates it: "I can see the creepers already pouring across this into our base over the wall that I painstakingly built to keep the creepers out."

The other plan is a spot outside where, as someone on the call puts it, "there are like three zombie spawners right here that pour out of this hole." The episode's description calls it a contest between Basket and Precisi. On the call it's simpler: "Alright, let's see who wins. Who can cure first?" The first catch goes badly. "Oh, crap, the sun's out."

Waiting for dark

Nothing happens until night, so Basket preps a holding area in a dark room with a zombie spawner, a couple of beds and a bow, and the chat confirms "Bed spawn set!" The spawner doesn't cooperate. "This zombie spawner is really disappointing me." Too many zombies are already loose in the building for it to spawn more. "So I think I lost."

Once it's dark, Basket climbs up and knocks the cobblestone bridge back out, block by block.

Bath time

Basket heads out to the road to watch the other method. Precisi, in gold armor, leads zombie villagers down a fenced lane to a pit of water. "See him down there? He's just taking a little bath." The trick is to let them drop through and split them up after, because two in one cell "will de-cure each other."

One gets loose anyway. "Where'd he go? How did he get out? There's no way he could get out." It turns up one level down, and by the end of it: "We have two villagers." "Yep, two villagers and they're separate."

The fastest cure on the server

One villager gets named Thor with a spawn egg and an anvil, after a short hunt because the anvil had been moved. The egg dispenser had stopped working too. "The redstone torch went out, and so I popped it off the wall and put it back."

Then the cure itself. "First you hit them with weakness, and then you'll hit them with the apple." Basket's hotbar holds the golden apples, and the zombie villager in the gold helmet is in the cell. A moment later, a plain villager is standing there. "Oh, it's instant." "For the record, that's supposed to take, like, 10-15 minutes." The best guess on the call: "It must be like a server thing." The trade screens open up right away, but "of course we have no emeralds."

Doors, and the sheep pen

Villagers need doors to breed, and nobody is sure of the rules. "It's a really wonky formula." The plan is "lots of like little mini apartments on one of these floors," or maybe the whole top floor. Doors go in, the cells open, and someone calls out "Run freeeee!"

They don't run far. "We have a problem. The villagers went into the pens with the sheep. One of them did." The other one ends up in with the egg chest. "Well, this wasn't planned very well, was it?" The last stop is upstairs, checking that a fireplace is safe, and the episode ends on the end card, with no gameplay after it.
