The video opens on a "Stream Archive" card that reads "Season 2 of Aftermath!" It's a lunchtime stream on the Aftermath server, a public apocalyptic cityscape running Minecraft 1.8.8. Basket logs in to "Welcome to Aftermath, survivor!" and a short list of rules. Chat is ranged: "you're probably all alone, so no one is going to hear you. Find a cellphone." Basket starts with nothing, in a street someone has already picked over.
Scavenger mode
Basket takes a crafting table, chops some wood and checks chests that turn out to be empty. Placing a block brings up a new message: other players can build here, so consider a land claim. "Oh wait, interesting, that's new." Players can claim land here.
The church and the bell tower
A church down the street looks worth a try. Basket takes one of its beds and the chat confirms "[Bed] Your spawn was set to this bed." The chests give up "an efficiency book and a flint," and it's getting dark, so Basket climbs the ladders into the bell tower to wait out the night.
The top of the tower is full of creepers. They keep coming, so Basket digs around for a spawner, nearly falls, and finally calls it: "Creeper spawner down!"
Don't eat the zombie flesh
There's still no food, and the only thing to eat is rotten flesh. The chat answers right away: "You got infected. Type /help infection for more infos..." Hunger and Weakness III show up on the inventory screen. "So I guess don't eat zombie flesh everybody."
Starving anyway, Basket jumps off the tower so the gear lands near the bed. The chat reads "BasketMC took the easy way down." Back at the church bed, a message says Basket is protected from other players "as long as your inventory is empty," and Basket picks the gear back up.
Daylight and diamond boots
Other survivors show up in the chat. WITHERLORD101 keeps dying, from "A Zombie ate WITHERLORD101's brain!" to "fell to the hunger of the horde," and "Raptor_XIV couldn't find any food." The Tab list shows BasketMC, Raptor_XIV, RiahLynn8264 and WITHERLORD101. Then Scoti_Garbidis and SPuntte join the wasteland, and later pikerize. They're all far away, and Basket can't find them.
One chest has diamond boots in it, with Unbreaking III, Feather Falling IV and Blast Protection IV. "Diamond boots and not food."
Out on the road, a sign points to a refugee camp. "13 kilometers north. Oh wait, kilometers. No, that's like really far away."
A long night in a corner
Night comes with zombies everywhere. Basket walls off a corner of a building, sets a bed there and turns logs into charcoal in a furnace. A logbook from a chest is called "Journal of a Madman," but one page in, Basket decides "we're not gonna read that."
Zombies crowd a gap in the wall, and Basket fights them through it. One drops a zombie head. "Well, that's useless."
Locked out at 0,0
In the morning Basket heads for 0,0 with the debug screen open. A giant pillar stands there, and the chat says "You don't have rocklobster2012's permission to use that." Somebody has already claimed it. A sign nearby marks a death by starvation. A little later, jandoncom joins the wasteland.
The rain starts, and the stream is out of time. With no shelter nearby, Basket logs out in the middle of the street and hopes it's day next time. The credits run to the end of the video with no gameplay after them.
