Episode 1 of Hypermine Modded starts a new series. Basket is a guest on the Hypermine server, which runs FTB Infinity Evolved, and the plan is to focus "primarily" on ComputerCraft. The video jumps across several days of play: a look around the spawn town, a dig down to diamonds, a small machine room, and then the first mining turtle and a first, shaky program. When it ends, the turtle can dig a short tunnel, and a bigger mining script is still to come.
Looking around spawn
Basket starts in the spawn town, a stone-walled square with buildings climbing the hillside. First come the in-game manuals. While one called "Materials and You" is open, the achievement Learning to Tinker pops up. In chat, Mookake joins the game and says hello. Out by the walls, Basket spots power lines that look "like hydro power" and wonders whether standing on them will hurt, then decides they must be insulated. The town will do as a base for now, but the parts Basket wants mean digging.
Down to diamonds
A short log entry later, Basket has found a forest, dug down and reached diamond level. "Yay, diamonds!" The ore sits right beside a pool of lava, so the mining goes slowly. voodoobeard answers "yay!" in chat, and the game posts the DIAMONDS! achievement. Some gold turns up nearby as well.
A small machine room
The next clip is a few days later, underground. Lava is collected in a room below and carried up to the machines. A geothermal generator burns it to power everything else. One machine turns wood from rubber trees into rubber. Ore goes into a macerator, which turns each ore into two piles of dust, and then into an electric furnace that smelts with power instead of coal. The result is twice the metal from every ore. Building the generator took empty cells made from tin, which Basket calls "kind of weird."
The first turtle
With a few more diamonds, Basket crafts a computer, then a turtle, then adds a diamond pickaxe to make a mining turtle. The goal is a home-made quarry program. Getting the code onto the turtle takes a while: pasting into the editor does not work, until Basket finds a program on the computer that fetches code from the web.
The first run asks how far forward, right and down to go, then stops with an error. A misspelled word gets fixed, and the next run breaks on a different line. The turtle also had no fuel, and one turn command was wrong. It gets a label, first "fred" and then "turtle1," and a refuel brings its fuel level to 1000. On the next try it digs a short tunnel, and on the recording comes "did you go too far." Basket calls the script "just sort of my hello world": dig forward, turn around, come back, and turn around again.
Where it ends
Walking the tunnels, Basket finds a spot where water now lets things "survive the fall" and blocks it off. "We'll be much happier and safer." The plan for next time is a better script: turtles that mine out big chunks, come back, drop what they dug into a chest, and head out again. The episode ends in the tunnel.
