Episode 2 of Hypermine Vanilla Season 1 starts with a building plan and turns into a tour. Basket tests whether coal burns, then meets Lapis_Lauri for a first wither and a look at the farms around spawn. By the end it is late, and one farm is saved for another night.
A little fire science
Lapis_Lauri "has recently put down a new road and it goes over a spider farm," and Basket wants to put up "a cool building" there. Black wool would give the color, but wool burns. Would coal blocks be safer? Basket sets one on fire, and it burns away. "Well there you go, there's the science." Wool it is.
First, though, a run back to the dirt shack. A chest there has a sign on it, "Welcome Aboard Basket!" signed "~L", and inside are a Potion of Fire Resistance, a diamond pickaxe with Fortune III, a diamond sword with Sharpness III, and shears.
First wither
Lapis_Lauri leads the way through the Nether hub, up a minecart elevator called a woolivator, to the Wither chamber. There is a warning first: the bedrock in it "is not a full 3x3 square," so a wither that turns the wrong way can still break blocks. Basket takes four soul sand from the chests, the soul sand and skulls go on, and the lever gets flipped right after the last head.
Basket goes at the wither with the diamond sword, and it does not last long. Soon a Nether Star sits in Basket's hotbar. "First wither. GG." On the way out, a cart goes back into the woolivator and its button pops off, but it gets fixed.
The Epic Picks
"This is what happens here on Hypermine if you make a mistake." In the town hall there is a tribute to the wither day of November 2015, when withers got loose on the server. Behind the stairs is the pick hall of fame: worn-out diamond pickaxes in item frames under a sign reading "The Epic Picks." A retired pick can go up there with a sign, and banners can hang on the town hall arches. The middle spot is still open.
Farms, a desert and a bow
Back in the Nether, the tour passes a double blaze farm whose super smelter stopped working when the Nether around it was dug out, and nobody knows how to fix it. "I'm a redstone guy," comes the answer, and a blaze smelter goes on the project board. Next is a big mob farm out in the ocean, then a little shack in a desert, dug out close by but with plenty of sand farther on. Both grab a little sand, Basket to grow cactus, and Lapis_Lauri explains how to copy a banner: put a plain banner in the base color in the crafting grid next to the finished one.
Basket has no bow yet, so Lapis_Lauri hands over an enchanted one with a dinosaur name, plus an arrow. The witch farm is through another portal. String runs everywhere ("be careful you don't bust it"), another woolivator rides up to an unfinished dish, and below is a carpeted AFK fishing room.
The Tuna Bowl
The last stop is a guardian farm called the Tuna Bowl. The killing floor is up above, and the long rows of chests underneath are full of drops. Lapis_Lauri explains the glowing blocks: crystals in a plus shape with shards in the corners. The farm itself is finished, and the rest of the build is "for fun."
Where it ends
"So that's pretty much everything." Another guardian farm will wait for another evening, since it is already late. "Just keep going straight," and the video follows Lapis_Lauri down a Nether tunnel before the end cards.
