Basket Station Mall, Part 1: Hypermine Vanilla S2 Episode 58

  • Published on

This stream runs about 63 minutes. It opens on a card reading "Hypermine Vanilla VOD" and "Basket Station Mall" with no episode number, so the number here comes from the playlist. Last time the first train ran from Basket Station to the small station on the south side and back. Now Basket wants the station to make sense to other players, and starts planning what goes inside it. Basket is the only player on screen.

Signs for the buttons

The first destination button gets a sign: "South Port Hypermine Station." "Ooh, it fits." The other buttons don't do anything yet. Basket adds more buttons and signs so the steps are clear: press a destination button, then request a passenger cart, then get in. A viewer suggests numbered steps, and Basket likes the idea. Another viewer catches a spelling problem on a sign, and Basket fixes it. "Okay, it's spelled right now."

Basket also isn't sold on the checkerboard floor. Once there are stores in here, it might look too busy, so quartz is on the list, even though quartz is a pain to get.

Moving day

Until now, any train that came in with chest carts got emptied out. Basket changes that so a train with more than just a caboose goes upstairs instead, which means supplies can be shipped in from other stations. A test chest cart with three sticks rolls the wrong way down a slope, so Basket leaves that piece powered all the time.

Then Basket rides to the small station to move everything out of it. The floor gets broken so all the items fall through, and they go into chests and then into chest minecarts. "Today is I guess moving day." Basket points out it's also a real test of the sorting system: will a train with more than one cart end up in the right spot?

It doesn't, quite. The engine goes to sorting like it should, but the caboose turns the wrong way and the chest carts get emptied instead of going upstairs. "Oh, no! So there's a bug there." Basket's best guess is a stray token in one of the moved chests, or a timing problem, and sets a chest to catch the items for now.

Laying out the shops

Next comes the mall. Basket uses blocks on the floor to plan the spacing: shops seven wide with shared walls, laid out as three blocks, a door, and three blocks, and about five deep. Basket says other players could open little shops here, even mock ones. Basket also moves the spot where trains drop off passengers and dips the rails down sooner, which frees up room.

There will be a three-wide bridge over the tracks, a walkway, and maybe a second floor with balconies. A viewer suggests selling small spaces as advertising, and Basket agrees. Stairs down to the freight yard could go on one side, since there's open space below.

A storeroom underneath

Basket's own shop gets a basement. Basket digs out a room below the floor for chests, adds a ladder, and plans a hatch so the room can be reached from the station's working areas without walking through the shop. There is also a lot of gravel. "Everybody was pretty cool, they dropped off gravel." It will go under the rails.

Basket runs short of smooth stone, and there is no quartz yet, so the stream ends with the plan in place and the bug from the move still unexplained. "I'm hoping that that bug that we encountered over there was just temporary." The credits run to the end with no gameplay after them.
