Three chests in the wall

The job needs three double chests side by side, two of them trapped chests. Basket sets them into the wall, then finds a full block on top would stop them opening, so they get inset instead, with stone bricks and stairs above to hide the machinery behind. Signs go on: Extra CHEST minecarts, Extra Rail Tokens, and Lost & Found. The idea is that anything that comes through the system and isn't a token ends up in that last chest.

A ride to show it off

Before wiring anything, Basket takes the stream on a ride to the South Port Hypermine station. The engine cart carries tokens that tell each intersection which way to go, and the caboose tells the intersection the train has passed so it can reset. Along the way the train goes through a rail crossing that raises its barriers, then past the first intersection, which would normally turn right but goes straight because of the token. At the far station an extra cart is sitting where it shouldn't, blocking the caboose. "So I'm still debugging some stuff." Then it's back to Basket Station.

The token chest and the item elevator

The Extra Rail Tokens chest is the easy one: a hopper chain down into the sorting system, with furnaces on top of the hoppers to cut lag. Basket tests it with a few caboose tokens and they come out where they should.

The lost and found is harder. Its items sit in chests deep under the station, so they have to go up. Basket builds a tower of droppers with redstone torches on alternating sides, a clock that runs while there are items to move, and a hopper line across to the new chest, with extra chests stacked on top for overflow. CaptainQ joins the game partway through.

The first test doesn't work: the droppers aren't alternating. A piece of redstone dust on top was powering the side as well and stopping the clock. With that fixed, items start climbing. Basket dumps a pile of old junk into a spare input chest at the bottom, breaks up the old storage chests down there, and admits the clutter problem isn't solved, "we're just relocating it." The frame rate drops a little while the elevator runs.

Along the way Basket also relays a rail line that had been moved out of the elevator's way, using powered rail and cobblestone levers.

Refilling chest minecarts

The last chest is for spare chest minecarts. Down in a corner of the station is a stack of them, used when engines and cabooses need empty carts. The plan is a tripwire hook that notices when the stack runs low, and a dispenser that drops a new cart onto a track to top it up. Basket builds the dispenser, a slow repeater clock to feed it, and a hopper chain from the chest upstairs. The tripwire isn't in yet, so a torch holds the clock off for now, and furnaces go over the hoppers before signing off.

The task list

"We accomplished more today than I thought we were gonna accomplish." The Lost & Found sign on the task list comes down and a new one goes up: Finish Chest Minecart Dropoff in Basket Station.
