This episode runs about 62 minutes and opens on a card reading "Episode 103" and "N. Port Hypermine Station Prep." Last time the beacon went in and the first layer of dirt came off. This time is nothing but the dig: the North Port Hypermine station hole, all the way down to bedrock. "It's gonna be a lot of digging today."
A present under the tree
On the way to grab torches from the South Port station, Basket stops at the Christmas tree, where a row of chests sits with name signs. The one marked "Basket" holds a lead and a book: "Merry Christmas from Lapis! You have a Christmas Mule at Hypermine Venice stashed in the Holy Sheep Cathedral. Pick your favorite!" The book and lead go into storage at the station so they don't get forgotten. "I guess the custom is that once you've opened up your presents, that you remove the chest and the sign."
Chests on every level
The hole is 13 by 22, and keeping it inside that outline makes it slow. "If it was a gigantic hole it'd be easier." Basket works it a layer at a time, crafts a stack of chests and drops a new one every few layers to hold what comes out. A regular pick replaces the Fortune one for most of it, because the station will need plenty of cobble: "I need to rename a bunch of cobble to be different sorts of blocks. That's part of the system that lets you take the rail between locations." Smooth stone stays on the hotbar to patch any holes in the walls.
Ghost blocks keep appearing. "Mojang, why don't you fix your ghost blocks?" A bed command skips the night and clears the weather along the way.
Zombies in the mineshaft
Around the halfway point the floor opens into an abandoned mineshaft. Zombies pile up in the dark parts, cobwebs come out with the sword, and the Infinity bow turns out to be useless without a single arrow, until a skeleton supplies one. "Thank you, Mr. Skeleton." The chat log also shows the advancement "Not Today, Thank You." Basket lights up the cave and blocks off the side tunnels so mobs can't wander into the future redstone room.
Diamonds near the bottom
Down at the level of the beacon, gold turns up and gets a shrug, since the server has a gold farm. Then: "Ooh, diamonds!" The pick in hand is a Fortune one, so the ore gives as much as it can, the "Diamonds!" advancement pops, and the diamonds stay in Basket's inventory instead of a chest, "just in case this just blows up for some reason."
Bedrock
At the bottom, a bit of lava shows up right at the edge of the hole and gets blocked off. "Don't dig towards the lava." The plan is for the whole station to sit inside this box, within the outline of the building up top and all the way down to bedrock, "so I can have all my redstone mechanics in this space."
Basket dumps the last load into a chest and puts torches across the floor. The redstone starts next time, and it won't be quick: "I'll probably be working on this station for the next month or two."
