Lunar Lair: Minimalist Episode 26

  • Published on

Episode 26 is the last episode of Minimalist. Team B.S. go looking for a portal that has opened somewhere on Kaladun's complete the monument map, and it leads to the Lunar Lair, a dungeon of end stone and obsidian full of poison spiders, charged creepers and mobs called Fire Walkers. By the end, black wool and an emerald block are on the monument, and the recording calls it: "You beat the map."

A portal somewhere

The episode opens in rooms of wood and obsidian with water running through them. "So a portal opened somewhere." The floor here hurts ("the floor is wither"), and there is void underneath, so they keep moving. They have been given flint and steel, which puzzles them: "do you think we're supposed to light something?" The portal turns up in a grassy corner with a sign beside it: Lunar Lair, [Black Wool]. Before going in they drink fire resistance and strength. Basket is also carrying a bow called Blast Cannon, with Power VI and Punch III, that adds health but cuts speed in half.

Spawners on the moon

They come out in a glass box ("we are contained") with "lots of badness" outside: poison spiders and charged creepers in rooms of end stone and obsidian. Jump Boost II and Night Vision kick in. They keep their backs to the wall so the spiders can't knock them off, then go after the spawners, shooting them out one at a time. "Took it out!" Mobs labeled Fire Walker leave fire behind them ("they drop fire as they walk"), so between the flames and the wither, someone ends up "on fire and withered." More spawners hide in the ceiling. A chest gives them a short break.

Moloch's warning

A stone brick shaft leads up, but its ladder is partly gone ("there was a ladder but I think it blew up"), so they climb with blocks and jump boost while charged creepers keep coming. Signs near the top warn that "Moloch's power is sealed away," and if freed, "his endless flames shall sear the world." On the recording: "Okay, so don't let that happen." Another sign says the black crystal "has held Moloch's power at bay for centuries," and the next line is "I kind of feel like we're supposed to break it." Poison spiders and Fire Walkers fill the room, and they fall back to a hallway where the mobs "can't come in," drink potions and pick off the spawners, including two in the ceiling.

The black crystal

The crystal turns out to be a small stack of glowstone and white blocks on an obsidian base in the middle of the end stone room. They break it apart, and a chest underneath holds the black wool. "Wow, that wasn't as hard as I thought it was gonna be."

Where it ends

They go back through the portal to the monument. Scoti_Garbidis carries the black wool, and the black wool slot is filled. Basket's emerald block goes into the emerald slot, between the iron block and the gold block. Then: "You beat the map." With those two in, every slot seen on the monument is full. The episode closes on both players in diamond armor standing in front of it, with the Deaths board still at Scoti_Garbidis 22, BasketMC 13.
