Basket starts this one with a big quest and ends it with a small one. Doctor Laurie wants a Tlaxan Shaman found in the Southern Jungle, but the jungle has other plans, and the day turns into a lighthouse, a boat at the docks and a pirate who isn't one yet.
Plan B
The Plague is marked long and medium difficulty, and one look down into the jungle settles it. "That's a lot of guys." Basket backs off. "Sorry to disappoint. Not gonna happen." The new plan is to try the south gate and see what's easier.
There used to be a sign there saying what lies that way. It's gone. The next sign reads Lighthouse, and the compass says it resets in 20 minutes.
The lighthouse, twice
The lighthouse is full of skeletons and spawners. A healing potion doesn't seem to do anything. Then there's a creeper spawner, and Basket tries to blitz it. "Oh wow, he really blew up a lot." The death screen reads "BasketMC was blown up by Creeper."
The run back goes better. Basket lights up the spawner, gets gear back into the right slots, and heads upstairs, where there are more creepers and skeletons that shoot through walls. Then, out of nowhere: "Oh god! No! Nooo!" The chat line this time is "BasketMC fell from a high place." Back at the lighthouse, with a baby zombie on the stairs, Basket clears the top.
The lucky helmet
Basket now has a routine. Before opening a chest, swap to the Topaz Cap for its luck, then swap back so it doesn't wear down. The lucky chest gives up another Weak Wand ("not too impressed"), decent pants, good boots, and something Basket calls "our new quest thing."
From the top of the lighthouse Basket spots something by a waterfall and climbs up slowly. "So far I'm liking this wand combat." Skeletons and spiders wait at the top, and some skeletons shoot each other. The chest up there holds eggs, sticks and a Parrot, marked as a quest item. "I don't know what it's for."
Levyn
Someone told Basket there might be quests at the bar. The barkeeps sell potions with haste and absorption, but they all come with nausea, and Basket skips them. "The effect of nausea in the game is not my cup of tea."
Levyn opens with "What's up me scurvy landlubber? Would ye like to join me merry crew?" One of the reply options is "Are you hitting on me?" It turns out Levyn wants to be a pirate but doesn't look the part. Find a peg leg and Basket can be quartermaster. The quest is A Pirate's Life, short and easy, at the abandoned docks.
The docks
Basket swims along the coast, since the mobs inland are bad. A trap chest has nothing good in it. A boat at the docks has a spawner, and a mob tries to use Basket's own stairs to climb up. Hat swap, chest open: "Oh, quest item. Oh, that's the peg leg right there."
A viewer asks if this is an adventure map. Basket explains: like a Complete the Monument map, but also an MMO, with other players, no PvP, and still in closed beta.
A parrot, already in hand
Levyn likes the peg leg but still isn't "piratey enough." An eye patch or a parrot? Basket picks parrot, and the dialogue doesn't click. Basket takes a screenshot to report it, then tries again. Levyn has heard of a nest of parrots in the "cave o' tears," maybe visible from a high place, like a lighthouse.
Basket already has one. It comes out of an ender chest on the ground floor. "A Pirate's Life complete!" The reward is Scalawag's Hatchet (Sharpness I, Efficiency I, Unbreaking I), an Imperial Coin and 32 Enchanting Bottles. A chestplate goes on too, since the old one broke.
