Two days after Missing Soldiers, the orange wool run begins. The guess on stream is that it might take three days of streams, so this is the first of a few parts. The party is johnfal_92 and Dash again, plus JJBonsig, going by the nameplates. Scoti isn't on.
Packing for orange
Basket cleans out the ender chest to make room for loot and brings an empty shulker box, a backup helmet and "a ton of backup stuff." The best gear is coming along too. "I'm hoping that I don't die in lava, but you know, if it happens it happens." Then it's into the dungeon. The chat reads "Transferring you to orange," and the title comes up: Fallen Menagerie.
Two of the party, johnfal_92 included, have run this dungeon before. To keep it fair they are sticking to tier four items and below, a self-nerf. Not everyone has seen it, though, and the plan for trouble is simple. Whoever yells "I'm gonna die" backs off, and the others step in between them and the archers. One of them also has a cleric ability that heals the whole party at once.
Basket is still wearing the Water Robe from Missing Soldiers, which grants Regeneration I while worn.
A hedge maze with spawners under the floor
It starts as a hedge maze with glass on one side. They find an exit, then a creeper spawner raised up over water, then a ghast, then another ghast. Then someone points out the real trick: there are spawners underneath basically all of the half slabs. A room starts spawning mobs around them, and they retreat. Somewhere in there johnfal_92 says in chat that they've lost track of where everyone is.
Poison, witches and fast creepers
The spiders here are poisonous. Then comes a witch. "Was it someone breaking glass, or was it a witch?" It was a witch, and then a whole room of them. The creepers are worse. Some of them, likely the ones from the spawners, carry the name Instaboom Creeper, and they blow up much faster than normal. The ordinary ones almost feel friendly next to them.
They break the spawners in the middle of the room and find a ladder going down. Someone gets poisoned by a witch and waits out the heal. Then, at last, "We have John!" johnfal_92 is back with the group.
Loot without luck
The loot chests mostly hold XP and junk. With no luck helmet in play, they just grab things as they go. One of them notices the zombies are dropping cooked zombie flesh, since they're on fire when they die. Somebody else sums up the dungeon this way: "Doing CTMs without friendly fire on is a whole different game."
Deeper in, Fern Warriors come out of the leaves, and the creepers keep coming. "I can't wait to beat more of these dungeons and get all these more cool abilities."
Up past the aqueduct
Past an aqueduct there's a dark corridor with creepers on one side and fast mobs on the other. Someone keeps picking up slow arrows that nobody seems to want. johnfal_92 points the way up, and the path leads back near where they came in. Basket didn't bring any chests to drop the loot in. Someone else has 40 of them, and that's where Part 1 stops.
