Orange Wool, Part 2: Monumenta Episode 35

  • Published on

Part 2 picks up two days later, back inside the orange wool dungeon. The party is the same as in Part 1: johnfal_92, Dash and JJBonsig, going by the nameplates and the voices. Scoti isn't on.

Two buttons somewhere in the dungeon

A row of signs sets the job. "This hall has been locked off by an ancient spell. To break the spell you must find the 2 bindings (buttons) in the dungeon and trigger them to break the spell and open the door. Good luck! You'll need it. :)" There are two wings, one passage on each side, and the guess is that each one ends at a button.

Two minutes in, the chat reads "johnfal_92 was slain by Lunatic Cultist." There's a big pile of gear on the floor, and John gets back in time to collect it. A little later someone asks JJBonsig what class they play. "Whatever is the thing that hits things." They get Strength from their axe, so the answer is warrior.

Fewer traps, more mobs

"This is a much less trap-happy dungeon than white is." The white wool run had traps everywhere. This one has mobs instead. Some mushroom-headed ones leave a potion cloud on the ground when they die, and after a round of guessing they settle on weakness. The creepers are fast again. "Oh god, it's very fast for creepers."

The path leads into a library, all bookshelves and cobwebs. Someone checks for a secret spawner behind a painting. There isn't one. Basket's health drops to two hearts in there at one point, but Basket survives it.

A staircase of leaves

There's a hole in the floor that one of them wants to go into, and someone builds the way down out of leaves. "John loves to staircase with leaves. It's his signature block." Any patch of sand or gravel gets treated as a trap, just in case. Then the arrows run out. "Nope, I am out of arrows." A chest has Arrows of Slowness, and those get picked up with a "sure, why not?"

On repairs, the cost comes up: 25 levels, except the server changed it to the experience it takes to reach 25 levels, which is a little better.

The chest under a spawner

One chest has a creeper spawner hidden in the ceiling right above it. "That was rude." It's broken quickly, and the chest gives up an uncommon Hide Shield with Unbreaking III and a bit of knockback resistance. By the end of the episode they have three of them between them. Then an Invoker turns up down in the water, where it's going to be a pain to reach.

The next chest has a rare bow, Bonepiercer, with Power I, Punch I and Flame. It goes into Basket's inventory.

Creepers start dropping out of the leaves above a side path. "I'm in the creepers. I'm almost dead, almost dead. Running away, running away." A heal comes through, and they push on.

Full inventories

The last find is a rare axe "against spiders": Arachnobane, with Bane of Arthropods IV, Unbreaking VII, Knockback I and Fire Aspect I.

There's still no button anywhere they've looked. "My inventory is full." "Yeah, my inventory is full too." So they turn around to drop off the loot before going further, and Part 2 ends there.
