Last time the BasketCase guild got its plot, and it was just grass. This episode is a build night, with no dungeon and no fighting. Basket has been thinking about what goes on the plot, and the answer is a tree. A really big one, with buildings hanging off the branches. dash10138 is on the plot too, and the planning happens over voice.
A tree, a hill and some numbers
The first idea was a trunk as wide as the whole plot. Basket talks themself down from that. The trunk should be big enough to hold rooms inside, but narrower, so some of the structures can sit out on branches higher up. People on Discord suggested a hill, and that sticks: a slope that rises toward the middle, with room for roots.
Basket has measured the plot at 35 deep and 31 across. Nobody knows how tall the space goes, so the guess is to use a neighboring build as a benchmark, since it probably uses most of the height.
Silk touch and a dirt floor
Grass turns out to be its own problem. The tick speed is off here, so grass doesn't spread. The other builder has been silk touching it out of the yellow dungeon and carrying it back, using a stick from a shop. Basket didn't know a silk touch stick existed.
The plot already has rows of labeled chests along the edge, with signs for logs, axes, shovels and planks. They pull dirt from them and lay the base about four blocks up, near the middle. There's room underneath, so the plan is a basement for storage under the tree.
The front door and the roots
Jungle logs mark out the trunk, and Basket lines up a front door with the plot entrance. A slab path climbs from the entrance to the door. Basket is careful to say this might all change. The guild is "sort of named after me-ish," but that doesn't make it Basket's call what gets built. This is either the start or a prototype, depending on what everybody thinks.
Then the roots. The idea is big ones coming off the trunk and curving down toward the corners, maybe big enough to walk through. One root ends up as a back way into the basement.
The logs fight back a little. Turned sideways, their ends show. Turned upright, the textures don't line up. Basket's fix is to wait: Minecraft 1.13 is supposed to add bark blocks with the same texture on every side, so for now they live with it.
Hills and slabs
While Basket works on the wood, the other builder shapes the hills. Asked how they look, the verdict is that they're not too steep and look fairly natural. A spectator shows up, and there's a short debate over how to say "spectator."
The grass under the slab path gets swapped for plain dirt, then for jungle wood, and Basket likes that better. A plank of the other builder's becomes a jungle log because it showed from the path.
Basket drops the leftover jungle wood and dirt back in the chests and calls it a night, a little early. There's a hill, one root, a path and a door. The tree itself is still mostly an idea.
