Screams of Terror: Ragecraft 2 Episode 123

  • Published on

The deaths sidebar opens at Scoti_Garbidis 143 and BasketMC 107. Two nightmares are done and one is left. "I believe it's your turn to go first," one of them says, and they head in. This is the one they have been dreading: "this is the place with the void fog." The hope is that it's "not too voidy."

The rule

Inside is a dark stone maze with bookshelves, paintings and holes in the roof. A row of signs explains the place, and one of them reads it out: "When the fog thickens and you hear the screams of terror echoing through the rooms, you better hide as fast as you can." Then the short version: "Whenever it happens you need to hide until it stops, or you will die."

The Endermen are the first problem. "You can only see their eyes," one of them says, and the advice is to keep looking low: "stare at their feet." Then it's time to hide. "Back to the room, back to the room." One of them reports, "I dug into a wall." The all-clear, as they work it out: "You have to wait till the heartbeat goes away."

An Enderman gets Scoti

The hiding does not go cleanly. "Enderman, Enderman," one of them calls, and then chat reads "Scoti_Garbidis was slain by Enderman." The sidebar goes to 144. Soon after, chat shows "BasketMC Teleporting to: Intersection 3."

Every time the screams come, the screen tells the story: Speed, Absorption and Blindness all at once, and Basket's inventory open while the timers count down. Basket is carrying a Potion of Lucidity, which gives Night Vision, Water Breathing II and Resistance II. "I bet that's really helpful," one of them says about the blindness.

Sorting the loot

They get back to a large chest with their gear and clear out what they don't need. "I failed at doing chest." Among the potions is a Panic Potion, which the tooltip lists as Instant Health IV, Resistance III, Fire Resistance and Weakness IV. One of them asks about the other mobs, and the answer comes back: "the white-eyed guys? Oh yeah, they're called psychopaths." Next comes "Poison spiders!" and the warning that "there's a poison spider spawner somewhere forward."

In a chest full of skulls Basket finds an Assassin's Cloak: Protection III, Unbreaking II, a Legendary Magic Item with +5 Attack Damage. "Increases your attack, interesting. Otherwise kind of junky."

A chest of tears

The next screams send them back into hiding. "I'm gonna put water in there," one of them says, and later, "That was for the Endermen, but I guess it's kind of slowing us down." Another chest is packed with Ghast Tears and skulls, plus a pair of Symbiotic Boots: Protection I, Blast Protection I and +10% Max Health. Basket now has an ender pearl in the inventory. The tears are not much use. "We can't make potions in this map." "Why not?" "No nether wart."

The episode ends mid-scramble. "We're in a hole together," one of them says, and then, "I can't place blocks." The credits roll and nothing plays after them.

The sidebar closes at Scoti_Garbidis 144 and BasketMC 107. This episode: Scoti 1 death, Basket 0. No wool, emerald block or upgrade block is placed.
