The Prophecy: Ragecraft 3 Episode 1

  • Published on

Basket and Scoti start Ragecraft 3: The Prophecy, a Complete the Monument map by Heliceo and the third Ragecraft map. The welcome sign says version 1.0 for Minecraft 1.8.8, and they play on Normal. Heliceo gave them early access, so this is going up before most people have the map. The first episode is mostly reading, chopping wood and poking around one dark valley, and nobody dies.

A hall full of signs

The spawn hall is mostly signs, including a thank-you to the beta testers and a request to read every sign and book carefully. They switch on the death counter first. The rules book covers the usual ground. Never set the difficulty to Peaceful. No cheats or mods. No villager trades involving emeralds. No Nether, and no glitching through bedrock. Ender chests can be used but not built or placed, and the monuments are off limits. "Same rules as last time."

The objectives book sets the job. Complete the crystal monument by placing 16 crystals, custom stained glass blocks found in chests around the map, and don't craft your own. There's also a bonus monument for emerald blocks, with a unique reward for each one placed.

After a quick settings check, a chest of additional hints turns out to be a trick, and the only hint they get from it is never to trust the chest. Then a button starts the map.

It's always night

The opening text says they've come home after a long journey across the great sea, the sky is darker than it should be, and something is watching. The first chest has one wooden sword in it. One of them was sure there were two.

Skeletons and zombies come in almost right away. They wonder whether the map is spawning mobs with command blocks, then decide it's just natural spawns, since this isn't a mushroom biome. They cut wood and make an axe, a pickaxe and a shovel. "It's always night." "It's unsettling."

A frost trap

The first building has crafting benches and a chest of frost traps. Throw one and a trap appears where the potion lands. Mobs in it get Slowness IV and Wither I, and the trap disappears after a minute. The item has infinite uses and isn't used up when thrown. One of them suggests taking just one.

Outside there's a waterfall, and one of them clearly wants to climb it. The other asks if they can just take the hill next to it. When a frost trap lands near them, it doesn't seem to affect players at all. "Well, that's handy."

Valley of Blood

A stone pillar marks the area: Valley of Blood, with nine emeralds and the White Crystal to find.

A house with bookshelves holds a journal, and it explains the darkness. The ancestors once built a monument out of arcane crystals to bring the light back. Over the centuries looters took it apart and sold the crystals all over the continent. The writer has read a prophecy about a young adventurer and a faithful friend who will restore it, and has gone to the Temple of Light to help the paladins hold off the darkness. The valley is already corrupted, the journal says, and some of the townspeople's eyes have turned white. The chest next to it has antidotes.

Down the road

A quartz tower has bone meal, a helmet and some pants. They check a patch of suspicious blocks for silverfish, grab a sapling, head down the road, and call it there.
