The next area is called Phantom Ruins, and it holds eight emeralds. "Well, we need only one." "Bring all eight, man." Nobody knows what's going on in there yet. The death counter opens at Scoti 56, Basket 46.

Not riding that rail

A redstone rail runs off into the ruins, and it feels like a trap. Blindly getting into a cart and riding down a thing? "Not today, Heliceo." They walk instead, into a dark jungle full of mossy stone.

Then it's story time. The ruins belonged to an ancient civilization, and when the darkness reached them, everyone who lived there came back as "vengeful phantoms trapped between the real world and the spirit realm." The phantoms can't be killed unless potions bring them back into this dimension, and a potion can take up to three seconds to work. They each take half a stack and plan to come back for more once they understand what's going on.

The edge of the idea

The first plan is to cross the treetops to a spawner on a tower. "We have reached the edge of my idea." There aren't enough blocks to bridge the gap, and the mobs below would knock them off anyway, so it's back down to the ground.

Down there, mobs keep catching fire around them. One of them works out why: "my sword and my boots, when I have them out, they kill guys around me." Basket is carrying a Volcanoblade. Some of the blocks in the ruins turn out to be silverfish blocks.

Phantoms you can't hit

The first phantom shows up as armor with nobody inside it. "You can hit him, but I don't know if you hurt him." A chest has more of the potions they need, but the potions carry nasty side effects too. Splash one too close and you go blind. "This mechanic is messing me up, man."

Jungle Spider

A spider spawner goes down, then Scoti hits one heart. "I'm gonna die. I'm gonna die." The chat agrees.

The counter ticks to Scoti 57. Scoti comes back with no gear, planning to run straight in and grab it. The stairs back up have vanished, so a few new chests get crafted to hold everything. Where to put them turns into a small argument: right at the death spot, or somewhere safe? "It's not how I roll." In hindsight, "it's a shame we didn't just ride that rail."

Emeralds and green wool

There are lots of mobs and spawners, and the invisible guys "are tough, man." Still, an emerald comes back from one of the towers, along with a respiration helmet and an efficiency pick. A witch poisons one of them.

A chest tooltip reading "Splash Potion of Revelation", "Revelation (0:03)", "Slowness II (0:03)", "Hunger III (0:20)", "Blindness (0:10)", "A potion that reveals phantoms and makes them vulnerable."

The potion has a name now. It's a Splash Potion of Revelation, and it reveals phantoms and makes them vulnerable. It also hands out Slowness, Hunger and Blindness.

Then another emerald, with a charged creeper spawner right next to it. That fight ends up underwater, with someone drowning and a phantom in the water. One of them throws a potion right next to the other while that one's back is turned, and the phantom becomes visible and dies. "We're gonna take this emerald back."

The counter closes at Scoti 57, Basket 46. The monument isn't shown, so it stays at 8 of 16 crystals and 5 of 12 emerald blocks.
