Tough Choice: Ragecraft 3 Episode 110

  • Published on

The Cinderblood Temple is beaten, but they're still inside it looking for what they missed. The counter reads Scoti 72, Basket 71. There are charged creepers behind iron bars, more in the walls and one "in the floor." Then, down a tunnel on the far side, they spot the thing they've been waiting on. "That's the quest item, right?"

Creepers and a pressure plate

"Let's do the emerald now." They loop around looking for one below. Something poisons one of them on the way. There's a lapis block in one room, and "I figured there'd be a spawner in here." The creepers keep spawning. "Oh, we're not good, we're not good." One of them digs down and takes out a pressure plate, and that closes the passage back up. A chest nearby gives a strength potion and a fire resistance potion. Then it's back to the quest room.

Your Choice

The quest item came with a book called "Your Choice," and one of them reads it out: "This is the only nether wart in the map. Of course, you could use it to start another wart farm, but that would mean that you would fail the quest. Potion brewing or permanent health boost. What do you value more? Choose wisely."

They talk it through. "If he hadn't put that book there, I don't know if we would have even thought about it until after the fact." The health boost means "there's no grinding involved." The wart means "we could have as many fire resistance potions as we want," plus regen, health and speed potions. One of them says, "I think in the spirit of the game, we should do the quest." Still: "Who will regret this when we get to the last level? I can feel it."

They float a loophole. Put the wart in the frame, then break it back out? Given "the bedrock behind it," they figure they'd lose it. In the end: "I'm all for completing the quest and going along with the story." "For fulfilling our prophecy, our destiny."

The ritual

Scoti puts the nether wart in the last frame. Green sparkles cover the board, it turns to bedrock, and chat reads "[Dalron] I have performed the ritual for you." "Yay, extra hearts." One of them is "up to 20," the other has 14. "I think that was the best way to do it."

Green sparkles over the quest board, now covered in bedrock, as chat reads "[Dalron] I have performed the ritual for you."

Emerald hunt

Then they go back to hunting emeralds. On Basket's screen, Basket opens one of their drop-off chests and there's an emerald sitting in it. "Are you serious?" "Yeah, this is one of our drop-off chests." There's talk of "another emerald" too, and of checking ender chests. There's one "in the seeing eye room."

They don't answer the other question, where the next level is, before they wrap up. Over the outro comes the joke: the emeralds are hard to find because someone is "keeping it secret and safe in my ender chest with almost 10 magical books and a bunch of potions."

Nobody died, so the counter still reads 72 and 71. The monument isn't shown, so it stays at 11 of 16 crystals and 7 of 12 emerald blocks, with emeralds still waiting to be placed.
