Desolate Blast Foundry Part 2: Uncharted Territory 3 Episode 12

  • Published on

The foundry is lava, stone brick, iron bars and TNT, and the mobs are already angry when the episode opens. "These guys are pissed, let's get 'em." The death counter starts at Basket 26, Scoti 16 and ends at 27 and 18. Two of those three deaths are in lava.

Swimming in lava

There are four ways to go, one of them straight toward TNT, and zombies keep getting through a gap they thought was blocked. One of them tries to wall it off with a block. It goes wrong fast. "I think they just bumped into us."

The death screen says it all: "BasketMC tried to swim in lava to escape Scoti_Garbidis." A few seconds later the chat adds that Scoti was shot. "Now we're dead." The apology goes both ways. "I was trying to put blocks in." If the block behind it had been broken, nothing could have come through.

Basket had been wearing the fire protection chestplate. "You couldn't live?"

Back to the base chests

At least they hadn't carried everything. Most of the good stuff was run back to base earlier, so they restock there: half slabs from the bottom chest under the food, leather and gold armor, fire protection boots, more torches. The best bow in the chest is Power I, which is about as good as it gets right now.

"Man, we were doing so well." One of them points out, "I'm still winning."

Their old gear is still lying on a ledge in the foundry. Nobody is there when they get back, and with full inventories they make a chest on the spot for the extras: wooden picks, a wooden axe, torches. One iron sword is nearly broken and gets saved for later.

An anvil next to the TNT

The trouble, it turns out, was spawners set against the wall so mobs appear on the outside. They break one and light the edge. A creeper spawner across the way explains the creeper. Then it's "operation running back": run over, look, run back if anything moves.

Over there is an anvil, chests, and TNT all around. One chest has fire charges. "I don't even know why that excites me, but it does." Another, near a zombie spawner, has sugar, gunpowder and zombie flesh. A furnace with lava behind it holds more fire charges and coal. The anvil needs a stone pick to take, and nobody brought one, so it waits. "Did we own this map? Let's get cocky."

The pit

They didn't own the map. Below the floor is a pit full of skeletons and zombies, and a creeper comes from a ledge they haven't reached yet. One of them builds a lip so nobody gets knocked in, and it saves them right away. Someone starts building stairs down while the skeletons shoot and the arrows run low. At one point the mobs shoot each other. "You guys totally hate each other."

A lava bucket could light the place up, except there might be TNT down there. Someone ends up at half a heart. One idea is to take off all the armor, run in and torch it. "I'm a walking pin cushion."

"I want to complete this tonight. Everyone else, it's like five more episodes, but for us it's one night."

Lava again

The staircase isn't done when the chat reads "Scoti_Garbidis tried to swim in lava to escape Zombie." "You said we weren't gonna die anymore." Rather than gear up and come back in the last minute, they end it there and pick it up next episode.
