New level. The Desolate Blast Foundry is stone brick over lava, with lava overhead too, and it lives up to its name inside the first ten seconds. The death counter reads Basket 26, Scoti 16 at the start, and for once it still says that at the end.
Break glass in case of emergency
The episode opens on a creeper and an explosion before anyone has said hello. "Welcome back everybody, episode 11. We're gonna jump into lava. I mean, we're gonna avoid lava."
Amlup did it again: there's a creeper spawner right there. One of them torches it "for now," knowing the other has plans for it.
Then there's a chest sealed behind glass, and the feeling that it's only for emergencies. They break it anyway. Inside: a splash potion of Fire Resistance, Hazard Boots (Blast Protection II, Fire Protection II), Chain Leggings with Fire Protection I, and some leather. The boots and leggings get handed out, the potion stays put for a real emergency, and the plan is to haul the chests back to the start of the level as a storage spot.
"I'm tired of episodes that start with explosions and near death."
Punch it and run
Down the stairs there's redstone, TNT, and creepers "just pouring out of this corner." Some of the TNT is already primed. "I'm gonna punch it and run." It goes off, and it drops a lot of XP, but it's also blowing up all the coal in the area, so they stop.
A skeleton spawner nearby makes skeletons in chain mail and gold, one with a gold pickaxe. They leave it running for now. It might be worth turning into a grinder, and the coal can be mined off camera.
Somewhere in here a rhyme happens: "It's Basket and Scoti. This place is total grody."
Two green gems
Further in there's an anvil, nearly broken, and a switch. "Don't hit that switch. I don't trust that thing." There's hope for a hopper, too, to speed up the grinder.
The chests here pay off. Arrows get split up, and then something odd: "Oh my, emerald. That's weird." The tooltip calls it an Azarian Trading Gem, Unbreaking X, "Legitimate Azarian Currency." "Don't lose that, dude."
Next to it is a Golden Sword with Smite V and Fire Aspect II. Nobody is keen on it. "I always get burned, literally." Fire Aspect without Knockback is the problem: "With that last sword I kept on burning myself." So it goes in a box for later. With the anvil they might combine it, and they have two Projectile Protection books to use.
Curiosity
They take the furnaces, and then someone says it: "Go ahead and hit the switch. I'll stand over here." A quick check on which switch, then "Oh God, run, run, run!" Something blows up, though not as badly as feared. "Curiosity killed us, almost."
Something with lava chunks coming out of it gets a "Good lord, that's nasty." In the scramble one of them hits the other with an iron sword. "Sorry, I hit you."
Books and villagers
Skeletons start shooting from up top, so the ladders get blocked. One of them is using half slabs to wall things off, which gets a "You're so smart." And someone is still thinking about that gem: "We're gonna need that gem when we get to the last room."
Downstairs, past one more creeper, is a chest of enchanted books: Fire Aspect, Fire Protection, Thorns, Unbreaking, and a second Azarian Trading Gem. "I bet there's gonna be villagers soon." They leave the haul there for now.
A zombie stares at them from across the room as they call it. "Find out if we get killed by this zombie."
