Unholy Marshlands Part 3: Uncharted Territory 3 Episode 29

  • Published on

This is the episode where they jump into the hole in the water that Episode 28 ended on. The death counter reads Basket 45, Scoti 27 at the start and Basket 45, Scoti 28 at the end. Only one death, but it rarely feels like they're winning.

Healing potions from the witch grinder

They start at death chest 3.0, a row of nearly identical chests that each hold a kit of gear. Basket points viewers to Episode 28.5, a solo episode where Basket built the Unholy Witch Grinder, and that's the first stop. The zombies die right away in it, and the witches drop healing potions when they're killed. So there's a top chest of Healing II and a bottom chest of splash Healing II, and they stock up before going anywhere near the water. Basket also tried to get the witches to drop fire resistance and speed potions, but that only works if you kill one within a couple of seconds of it drinking, and none of the lava tricks pulled it off.

A chest from the witch area holds a book from an alchemist priest. It says a "dark magic enchantment table" was moved to "the alchemical stronghold" under a deadly curse: "If you find the table, you MUST DESTROY IT!" The response is "Yeah, screw 'em," followed by the more careful idea that it might be a warning about a trap.

Two warnings and a helmet

Before the jump, Basket points out a tree by the lake. The poison mushroom zombies spawn near its bottom, there's a spawner in the trunk, and probably more up top. Above the hole hangs the chandelier, with "at least one or two spawners" in it. They skip the tree and go for the hole.

Basket goes in wearing a golden helmet with Respiration IV and Aqua Affinity I, and the screen turns milky white underwater. "We got trolled." "Take it off." Off it comes. Meanwhile skeletons shoot them from above, there's a creeper spawner in there, and some blocks turn out to be silverfish. The water stops about halfway down, there's an air pocket, and then "there's creepers floating up."

Scoti blown up

At about 11:45 the chat reads "Scoti_Garbidis was blown up by Creeper," and the counter goes to 28. "Good news is we get to go get my stuff now." They regroup at the chests, a Power III bow gets handed over, and one of them mentions an item elevator built off camera from the Scorched Underpass up to the villagers, now that they have redstone.

Round two

The second dive is spaced out on purpose: nobody wants to jump "Thelma and Louise style" right next to each other. It goes about as well as the first. Something at the bottom is throwing potions, one of them gets down to almost nothing, and only the healing potions keep the counter where it is. "Can't believe I survived that."

Their working theory is that the lake floor is full of holes with spawners under them. Mobs spawn down there, float up and attack, and standing in the water above certain holes hits you with slowness. So they start plugging holes. One of them builds a little "safety house" by the waterfall, and a trail of glowstone dropped in the lake leads toward it. Food is short, there are bats everywhere, and an Enderman wanders in.

They call it with no fleecy box in sight. "This place sucks." The plan is simple: find the freaking fleecy box and get out of here.
