Two more emeralds, a music disc nobody expected, and the moment the pair of them work out exactly what losing Emerald 1 cost them.
Up by the jibba-jabba
The target this episode is an area they have been to before, described by Basket only as up by that jibba-jabba right there. Scoti knows exactly which one he means.
Coming at it from a different direction changes it completely. Basket notes the perspective is totally different from last time, which is the recurring problem with an open cave map: a place you have cleared is unrecognizable from another entrance.
Skeletons are waiting, more than one, and a creeper comes in behind. Basket's contribution is announcing that he is dodging and weaving.
Record Ralph
A creeper death drops a music disc, then another, so both of them end up with one. Basket names the phenomenon Record Ralph on the spot and immediately starts planning something involving the records and the week they have before the video goes out.
Nothing comes of it in this episode, but it is the first time either of them has treated a drop as raw material for a bit rather than as loot.
Outback, and a position on Skittles
The tangent this episode is food, at length. Blooming onions come up. Basket used to go to Outback every year for their anniversary until the year he looked across the table and realized he did not actually want to eat there. His wife is not much for steak, which settled it.
He then pivots, unprompted, into a firm and repeated declaration that Skittles suck, asks to have it noted on the record, and instructs both Outback and Skittles not to contact him.
Emeralds 8 and 6
The actual objective goes fine. Two more emeralds located and carried back, taking the wall to eight of the fifty-four.
There is a brief and very Team B.S. moment of confusion over which number they are even on, resolved by checking.
Nothing happens, and now they know why
The ending is quietly the best thing in the episode. They slot an emerald into the display expecting something, and Basket says out loud that he was hoping something cool would happen.
Nothing does. And then they work it out between them: the reward probably triggers when a row is completed, and the top row includes number one.
Emerald 1 has been at the bottom of a lava flow since episode three. That row can never be filled. Whatever the map had waiting for them there is now unreachable, permanently, and they are only finding out twelve episodes later.
They take it well. Then Basket signs off with see you next time, except for Basket, because you cannot see me, which is still the shield joke and still funny.
