Seven in the box

Basket opens by saying he loves putting emeralds in this box every day, which is the most content he has sounded all series. This one is number seven.

The display is stricter than we had realized. The panes are color coded and the emerald has to match, so you cannot simply fill the nearest empty slot with whatever you are holding. Basket discovers this by trying.

That is not bread

Best exchange of the episode. Basket goes to eat what he takes for bread, and Scoti stops him with some urgency: that is not bread, do not eat it, that is creeper dookies.

It is gunpowder. He does not eat it. He is also, at this point, eating watermelons like a chump, in his words, purely to keep his health up on the way to the next fight.

The spawner goes down

A spider spawner turns up, then a skeleton picking at them from the dark, which Basket labels a sniper. Something comes out of the ceiling again and neither of them can say where it spawned from.

The spawner itself gets destroyed properly, and there is real satisfaction in the pair of them agreeing they wrecked it. After the six stacked spawners at the end of episode twelve, taking one out cleanly counts as progress.

A Fortune pickaxe, and a trap survived

Loot of the episode is a pickaxe with Fortune and Efficiency on it, which Basket notes will be handy even for ordinary mining rather than saving for something special.

Mining it out turns out to be a trap. They get through, and Basket's summary is the nicest line in the episode: it was a trap, it had the potential to break up our friendship, and we survived it.

Just a big old shield floating around

The ending is Basket quietly running out of steam. He announces that he does not want to be Captain Poopykins about it, but he gives up. He cannot make a sword. He keeps forgetting he can block with what he has.

Then the actual punchline: between the shield filling his screen and the watermelon he keeps eating, he decides he is not really present anymore, just a big old shield floating around.

He signs off with maybe see you next time, if we are still not shields.
