Back among the skeletons from last time, they find a chicken, and for the first few minutes nothing matters more than keeping it alive. Then a shortcut sends them much further into the map than they meant to go.
Stay alive, buddy
So many skeletons. Still better than spiders, one of them says. Then: a chicken! Stay alive, buddy. Creepers start pouring in at once, and someone asks if they can please focus on the thing that's alive. There turns out to be a creeper spawner right on top of where the chicken is standing. Someone offers to block the chicken in, the spawner gets taken out, and the report comes back: the chicken is alive.
Too many creepers
The quarters are tight and the creepers keep coming, so the spawners have to go. They find them on a pillar and tucked behind vines, including four together in one spot. If they did not already have six at the other spot, one of them says, they might try to save these. There is a brief plan to set off some TNT and make it mega blow up, which turns into just throwing a torch down instead.
Along the way someone is shot by a skeleton, cookies are declared the worst, and sticks are scarce. One of them has been much luckier with sticks than the other.
A fall trap and a teleport
Across the next bridge one of them spots it just in time: missing blocks right after the bridge. Trap, trap, trap, don't walk across. He had already jumped over it without noticing. It gets covered with blocks.
Then something stranger. A passage loads them somewhere else entirely, a teleport, and that explains the time last episode when they both briefly disappeared. A sign nearby reads Shortcut, and another mentions dreams, bad news and emeralds in the forties. They work out this is about three quarters of the way through the map.
A railway across the lava
The shortcut path does have a trap. One of them ends up standing on a pressure plate over TNT that, for some reason, does not go off, with lava underneath. He survives, though not because he was good at anything.
A button comes with a warning, which one of them reads out: this button will create a railway across the lava, and anything built in front of the rail line will be destroyed. They press it. The track builds itself out over the lava, stops partway, and then leads back toward base.
Way ahead
Riding back, there is cobblestone on a wall that might be a secret and might be nothing. One of them sums it up: they are in area 43 or 45 or whatever, way ahead of the game. Nobody is sure how long the episode has run, so they take a break there.
