The episode opens at the monument with the Kraken Storm loot. Then they walk into Deathshade Ruins, and the map that was starting to feel easy stops being easy.

Brown wool celebration

There's a short mix-up at the start ("I thought you said you had it." "Nope, I have the glass from where the emerald goes"), and then the emerald goes in. The monument chest now holds 22, with the next empty slot marked "Emerald 24 goes here." Brown wool goes on its pedestal too. "Brown wool celebration." "Woo-hoo!" And then the tradition: the brown glass goes in the house window.

The deepest darkest dungeon

Neither of them remembers the name of the next area, so they go and read the signs: 21, 22, 23 and 24. The one they want says "Deathshade Ruins, Em:23-24." Two emeralds in this one. "Something tells me with a name like Deathshade Ruins this is going to be a pretty easy wool." They decide to call it the deepest darkest dungeon, "for the sake of consistency."

It is very dark. There are stairs going down ("that's never trapped"), a zombie with a sword, skeletons shooting, and a pair of creepers that show up right behind one of them. Somebody gets hit and set on fire. In the middle is a smoking pillar with spawners inside, and it keeps making skeletons. They don't have many blocks with them. One of them blocks off a staircase, which means everything bad comes up the other way now.

The evokers

Something comes up out of the ground. "They're coming up out of the ground!" It's evokers, the wizard mobs that call in the little flying vexes. Both of them are under attack at once.

Scoti goes down first. The chat line on screen says Scoti_Garbidis was slain by Vex. "I really hate evokers. I quit Minecraft." A couple of minutes later Basket's screen goes red: BasketMC was slain by Vex.

Then comes the question of whose fault it was. "Why weren't we together?" One of them ran away from the bad guys, came back, and died. "I blame you." "I care too much."

Getting the stuff back

The respawn point is back at base, so it's a long run, with a five-minute clock on the dropped gear. "We should have slept somewhere else, I guess. I'm not used to dying, we haven't died in a while." A bed goes down in the hallway leading to the intersection this time.

The advice for next time is to shoot evokers from far away, since they only make the vexes when they can see you. When they get back, a bunch of the mobs are wearing someone's stuff. "Well, at least it's not gonna be lost, right?" They sort out the gear, including two Infinity bows, and the spawner down there gets lit up and later taken out. "This easy map got hard all of a sudden."

A field of arrows

Past a chest of cookies there's a ravine, and a pillar that fires "a bazillion arrows" at anyone who gets close. There are several spawners up there, and the ground is covered in arrows that can't be picked up. Ideas include sprinting across, digging underneath, and somebody doing suppressing fire. At least they both have Infinity. Coal is running low, and the episode ends with one of them about to rush the thing. The two emeralds are still out there somewhere.
