Day nine is the last episode of Michael Deering's December 2013 challenge, and Team MaBaLoSco spends it getting the sandstone club ready for company. The building has a new name by now, "Club 84. Savanna 84," and by the end of the night it is full of guests.
Clearing out the chickens
First the chickens have to go. "Are we cool with getting rid of the chickens now? We don't need them." The coop is "killing the ambiance," so the birds end up in the furnaces, and the steak gets moved into chests behind the bar. The feathers become arrows.
Someone wants flower pots, which means clay. Basket swims down into the river and digs it out of the riverbed, and back at base the clay goes into a furnace and comes out as bricks. Basket also spends some levels and the bow comes back enchanted.
Food, drink and dancing shoes
Basket writes two signs for the bar, "Food" and "Drink." Everybody gets a pair of boots: "Somebody make a chest for these boots that we can give everybody dancing shoes." Then the iron helmet, chestplate and leggings come off. "I'm getting on my dancing shoes."
Before the doors open, the team poses on the path in front of the club with the quartz 84 behind them, and Basket switches to a front view with the HUD hidden for a clean shot. "Let's start the party, guys."
The party
Chat and nameplates fill up with guests: Gopherboy, iLLuMiNaTes_Jr16, L4GamingRobo, MinecraftMama, MikeDeering, swordsboy14 and Moonwillow92, with Nexas789 and Noodle186 on the dance floor too. Drinks go out ("It's just water." "Yay, water!"), and disc 13 plays because "it's the only song we have."
The guests take turns saying what they like about the hardcore challenge, and talk turns to future months. One idea, credited on the call to Basket, is a survival island, and a voice on the call answers: "I will do a survival island sometime in the coming year." Nobody notices at first that the sun isn't coming up. The server's time has been stopped so the party can stay at night.
An Enderman crashes it
The party draws one visitor nobody invited. "Who looked at an Enderman?" Chat answers: "swordsboy14 was slain by Enderman." In hardcore a death is final, and when swordsboy14 tries to get back in, chat shows them joining and leaving again right away. "That's what happens in servers if you die hardcore."
Basket heads out with the sword. An Enderman stands on the lawn outside the club, a zombie comes up at the wall, and a creeper walks through the grass near the field. "It's not a fight party." Then chat shows derpguru joining the game. "Oh, she's inside the wall." "That's brilliant, well done guys." The welcome gift is TNT: "TNT, my favorite block."
Happy New Year from Savanna 84
To finish, everyone crowds onto the path in front of the club for one big group photo. "Say cheese!" "Happy New Year!" A "Happy New Year! from Savanna 84" title rolls over the crowd, then the credits. All four members of Team MaBaLoSco finish the month alive; the only death on screen is the guest who met the Enderman.
