The title card reads "Minecraft Hardcore Challenge August 2013," with "E05" in the corner. Basket is back at the jungle hideout in game show host Michael Deering's August challenge, with a plan to "dive more into the mine."
Milk, bread and a ravine that wasn't
First stop is the cows outside. Basket only wants milk, and there seem to be just two, so they stay alive for breeding: "So we have three milk which is probably more than plenty." Then a correction to the last two episodes. After rewatching the third video, Basket says "the big ravine that I was trying to find didn't really exist." It was the small one, found a couple of times already. So there's no reason to hunt for it. Back in the hideout, bone meal brings the wheat on fast, "enough for one piece of bread." Food is still thin: "we just have those two apples."
The spawner in the webs
Viewers had asked what was behind the spiders, so Basket goes "to attack it straight on." Past a wall of cobwebs sits a spawner, and Basket mines it out. "Thought about keeping it, but this is too dangerous." Then the tunnel opens into a big cave, with a creeper down below.
Chests on rails
E4 ended with no chests at all. This time they keep turning up in minecarts. The first holds a saddle ("I guess I've seen better chests before"), and the next one has another saddle. "Wow, this is a really big mineshaft." Basket grabs gold, places more torches and admits that finding the way out may mean "just digging up."
Then a chest pays off. "Oh, bread! It's better than almost anything I could have got. Because right now I am pretty low on food." Zombies are close behind it, enough that Basket wonders if there's a spawner nearby, "or it could just be a bunch of zombies." One fight leaves zombie flesh in the inventory, which is at least something to eat.
Skeletons and a backup sword
The next few minutes are a long run of mineshaft halls with skeletons, zombies and a creeper. Most of the commentary here is hard to make out. Basket mines more gold and makes a backup sword "because that one's getting low," then: "I guess this armor sure helps." Spotting a bow, Basket notes it "takes priority," though "it's mainly the arrows I don't have."
The lava lake
Past "lots of iron," the mineshaft gives way to open cave. "So we must be close to diamond level. There's a big lava lake right there." Basket hops down into water, then two creepers come in at once. "Oop, oop, block! Block!" Basket comes through it with full health, passes a whole bunch of zombies, and spots redstone.
The last episode
Basket wraps up: "I didn't get any diamonds, but I did get some food," plus more resources, "but at least I'm down in diamond level now. So hopefully I'll find some in the next episode." The game pauses and the end card follows, with no gameplay after it.
Basket ends the episode alive. It's also the last episode of the August run that went up. Nothing in it ends the run: there's no death, and Basket signs off with plans for the next one.
