Episode 8 of Kill the Dragon, Michael Deering's December 2016 Minecraft Hardcore Challenge, starts in the morning in the wooden house at the top of the mine. Basket has a new plan for the ender pearls. "Today's objective is to try to get as many resources as we can from all over the place." Crops, loot and anything else worth carrying will go toward trading. "We want emeralds through the end of all this." Basket crafts another chest, sorts the inventory into it, and heads outside.
Harvesting the village
The village farm is right outside, and Basket clears it: carrots, potatoes, wheat and beetroot. The first idea is to skip replanting, then Basket changes course. "This is spawn, so in theory this might actually load, so never mind, I lied. We will replant the seeds." The fields go back in as rows of fresh sprouts.
Trading for pearls needs the right villager. Basket checks the houses and walks through the library with the enchanting table, but there's no priest here. "So we have a librarian, so we don't have a priest. I will need to find a priest in another village."
Out across the plains
So Basket sets out to find another village, killing whatever is on the way. A cow earns the Cow Tipper achievement. A spider in a small cave drops nothing. "Nah, no string." Pigs and chickens go down too, and the chickens matter: "I will need feathers for arrows later on." The plains roll on with no village in sight, and the sun starts to drop.
"It's turning to night. We have not found anything yet." The first thought is to dig down for the night, but Basket decides to stay out a while. "I will travel a little bit at night until I get spooked and then I'll dig down."
A pearl in the dark
Basket builds a cobblestone pillar with a low roof over it and waits underneath. A zombie comes first, then endermen. Basket fights them from under the roof, and one of them pays off. "Okay, I have an ender pearl." The inventory shows it: one Ender Pearl. "Alright, maybe this is actually better than trading." More endermen come by, but the next kills drop nothing. "No pearl."
The rest of the night
Basket keeps walking and fighting: zombies, a baby zombie, skeletons by a pond, spiders. Zombie flesh is suddenly useful too. "I need some zombie flesh to start the trading process." A look in the inventory shows three string, five arrows and 42 feathers. "I do have enough for a bow now." The shield gets plenty of use. "Shields are so cool."
Back where it started
As the sky gets light, Basket has a guess about where this is. "I think we're approaching the original village." The whole loop turned up no new village. "I don't think we found anything, we just went in a circle." The mobs start burning in the sunrise, and Basket calls it there.
The episode ends with Basket alive at sunrise, one ender pearl in the inventory, and a last look in third person. "Look at that, I got an arrow in my eye." The end card follows with no gameplay after it.
