Episode 7 of Kill the Dragon, Michael Deering's December 2016 Minecraft Hardcore Challenge, picks up right where the last one stopped: Basket is dug in under the blaze spawner in the Nether fortress. "This is my sort of poor man's Blaze Farm. I'm trying not to burn to death." The target has gone up a little since last time. Basket now wants "maybe 9, 10 blaze rods" before heading out.
Knocking them down
The blazes are not where Basket wants them. "These guys are not where I wanted them to be." So Basket opens single blocks, swings at whatever floats close, and tries to knock them down into the trap. Some fall in and some don't, and plenty of kills drop nothing. "'Kay, no drops. No drops." A look in the inventory a few minutes in shows six blaze rods. "Awesome. We're up to 6. That's probably plenty." Basket keeps going anyway.
Calling it at nine
More blazes go down, and most of them leave only XP. "Just XP." Then a couple more rods drop, and Basket stops to count. "Nine, I think it's nine." The inventory confirms it: nine blaze rods. Basket eats to heal up and decides that's enough. "I think I'm gonna call it good." One more blaze behind the wall keeps landing hits anyway. "Cheats. Cheats, I tell you."
Finding the way out
Basket seals the intersection and starts back through the dark nether brick halls, trying to remember where the way in was. It takes a while. "Oh no! There's lava there." After a few wrong turns, Basket finds the hole dug in the wall on the way in. "Right here? Yes. Right here. Awesome. This will be our way out."
Back across the Nether
The walk back runs over netherrack ridges, past lava falls and patches of fire, with zombie pigmen standing around. Basket keeps moving and keeps talking. "I'm fine, I'm fine. Everything is fine." The plan is simple: "We're gonna go through the portal, get back to the overworld and head back to our village."
Then the purple glow shows up in a netherrack hollow, and Basket steps through.
Ender pearls next
Back in the cave beside the chest, Basket sorts what to carry and thinks about the next step. Eyes of ender need ender pearls. "We need to kill Enderman." Trading with villagers is another option, but that takes emeralds, and Basket doesn't know yet how expensive the trades are. The blaze rods stay unspent for now. "I'm not gonna spend the blaze rods yet on potions because I don't know how many I'll need."
Then it's a long climb, one block at a time, up through the mine until a ladder comes out inside a wooden house. Basket puts the iron in the furnace with some coal and looks outside. "And it is morning."
The episode ends with Basket alive and home with nine blaze rods. "I've survived the Nether. Hopefully I don't ever have to go back." The end card follows with no gameplay after it.
