Day seven of the Lorax Challenge, Michael Deering's September 2014 Minecraft Hardcore Challenge. The goal is a nice stone castle with a melon farm, without breaking a single tree or leaf. Basket starts inside the big cobblestone walls, on a floor that is mostly stone already, with a strip of water still along the far wall. The guest voice is back on the call, building in a separate world on the same seed.
The last of the water
The episode opens in third person on Basket in iron armor, sword out, standing on the new gray floor in the morning sun. "Whoa, I hear skeletons like crazy."
Then it is back to the lava bucket. Basket pours lava onto the leftover water, waits for the stone to form underneath, scoops the lava back up and moves along the wall. The water shrinks a few blocks at a time. The last corners to go are in the old yard, around the crafting table and the chest, where the lava runs right up against them.
Up on the walls
With the floor done, Basket climbs out and runs along the tops of the walls. On the way past the farm by the lake, a melon block has grown, and Basket breaks it. The melon slices in the hotbar go from 27 to 32.
After that comes a long stretch of wall work. Basket goes back and forth around the old yard, placing cobblestone, knocking some back out, and setting torches along the tops. The stack of cobblestone runs low more than once.
Seeds by the lake
Down at the farm, Basket puts a wooden fence gate in by the melons and breaks another ripe melon block. Then the hoe comes out. A strip of farmland by the water gets planted with a handful of seeds.
The sky is turning orange by the time Basket climbs back over the wall.
Down the ladder for cobblestone
In the old yard, Basket checks the chest, then climbs down a ladder shaft into the ground. "I need to get more cobbles done."
What follows is most of the episode: Basket with an iron pickaxe, chewing through solid stone block by block, putting torches down as the room grows. It turns into a long, flat-floored hall lit by rows of torches. By the end, the inventory is packed with full stacks of cobblestone.
Hunger drops a little along the way, so Basket eats some melon down there and keeps going.
Up into the rain
"So this is day seven right here, man." The answer on the call: "Yes, I think so." And then: "We got two days left."
Basket climbs the ladder back up and steps out into rain. It is daytime again, and the stone floor inside the walls is wet and gray. A switch to third person shows Basket in iron armor with the iron sword, standing among the torches. "I think we need to call it."
Basket is alive with full hearts, a full hunger bar and experience level 20 when the credits roll. The hotbar holds the iron sword, pickaxes, the iron shovel, a full stack of cobblestone, 31 melon slices and 18 torches. No water shows on the floor anymore. Nothing follows the credits.
